Re: Photobucket account 3rd party linking help
Mine went too. Luckily I had saved a PDF of my rebuild thread, so will go through and do that again, hoping I can download from PB. Have been able to do a couple of tests from my phone, but don't know how it will go for 'libraries'
What a shitter. Totally trashed the history of the forums.
I can see why they're doing it, but $400 is crazy. Looks like it is going down.

Re: Photobucket account 3rd party linking help
Have just finished rebuilding my thread. Only 88 photos but it still took me quite a time to download from Photobucket, repost to Flickr and then amend each posting. It's a shame, but I don't think I'll be repeating that with all of the other random photos I have posted.

Hmm, see PB have caught up with me, the avatar has gone, will have a look at my build thread for the orange TS from 09, and see what I can do
Cheers

Re: Photobucket account 3rd party linking help
Have just saved my restoration thread ...cut and pasted each forum page into emails
So far my pictures are all displaying....at least I now have a copy to rebuild the thread from Flickr should I need to
What an utter cock though....

Re: Photobucket account 3rd party linking help
Been thinking much about this......highly unlikely most people, me included, who will take the time to rebuild old threads. Old threads are going to be dead and gone with a lot of enjoyable content lost to this community.
I never had an issue paying Photobucket £20 odd quid a year to host my photos, if PB had insisted upon this after a trial period maybe they wouldn't be in the situation they are now?.........but isn't this going to potentially be the same for any other form of 3rd party hosting when they realise their business model doesn't work, same crisis another time.
We all know what an incredible job Thomas has done keeping this place a pretty cool place to hang.....no rules, no demands, no real drama and as such it's attracted a great crowd......but then Thomas has a day job and a life and can only do so much.
Maybe it's time for us all to pay our way?......server hosting services that can host our own photos without issues and technical support that monitor, develop and maintain the site with Thomas pushing the buttons?
You could possibly have a photo upload facilty that's easy to use and automatically resizes photos to avoid huge images and large file sizes which keeps the site looking sharp along with other ongoing development that will keep the site current and fresh?
Trouble is it all costs, I'm happy to pay my way and hope other would too if they value DDK.......keep it maverick maybe and suggest people only chip in what they can afford but only let them post photos if they do?
Whichever way, I believe.........without photos threads are pointless!

Re: Photobucket account 3rd party linking help
Funny you should mention that!......next request was invite only by the author threads (maybe in the members section?) where groups can chat amongst themselves without the input from the rest of the community?hot66 wrote:I'm in. Can we have our own dark web section
Might not be the most popular suggestion but then not everything is for sharing.

.....you could view it like that but I was thinking it would keep people here rather than drifting off to Facebook and WhatsApp etc.mycar wrote: A kind of early Porsche apartheid ??
Individual meets, private transactions, slagging people off behind their backs!.....I think there's a place for it and no different from PM's really just in a thread format....some times you don't want others chipping in.
Just a thought?

Re: Photobucket account 3rd party linking help
I agree that a build thread without the photos isn't much use to anyone.Darren65 wrote:Whichever way, I believe.........without photos threads are pointless!
Hence I've spent all my spare time for the last three days migrating mine over to Flickr.
It was either that or give up on the thread - hopefully others will also put the effort in.
Of course I would rather have been in the workshop being productive!

Bloody typical, I'm always the last one to find out about anything and everything.
And who's getting slagged off behind their back ??........??.......

Bootsy wrote:Ok I've gone with the second option as per the test above - otherwise we will have untidy posts with huge pictures
If you post via the full editor (not the quick reply at the end of the thread) you will now be able to add attachments/pictures
Big files will be displayed as a preview image as above which can be clicked on to view the bigger picture
Hopefully will help out and make posting pictures easier and also if you want to update a resto / reference post things will be slightly quicker
