Hi Mark, don't know the respective weights I'm afraid. Have to say though that with your extensive skill set and talents, I would have thought you would have fabricated your own wheels by now!

A 15x8 is 6.6kg and the sport classics 8.2kg but they are 18’s...

Good to hear you are enjoying the car, 993's are a lovely car when they are well set up. I think you have covered almost everything, have you looked at Wayne Schofield at Chip Wizards. It's something on my list, widely regarded as the best tuner of the 993 in the UK , comes highly recommended.

Sorry Tom, got distracted! Yes heard a lot about Wayne Schofield and Chip Wizard's, anyone have experience of him and how he works?

Wayne has remapped a couple of cars for me and his work is excellent. Got a very good 305 bhp out of my otherwise standard 964 RS with very good power deliver and flat torque curve. He used to be a bit difficult to track down and is quite a long way from Surey but worth it if you can get hold of him.

Thanks for that, and yep, always liked a clean engine bay in my Porsche's...

Been away a lot this year and drove the car yesterday for the first time in nearly two months, even better than I remembered!

So prompted by recent threads about 912's over 993's and buying 964's, thought I'd just try again to sum up what it means to me. I seriously can't think of a better car to suit me and my lifestyle these days. I'm retired and taking it easy, traveling a lot and don't really have time anymore for overseeing a car project or trawling the length and breath of the countryside sourcing parts and so on like I did years ago.

Opened up the garage and there she sat, that fantastic rear end in that incredible colour which knocks you out if you haven't seen it for a while. Starts first turn of the key and off it went, no fuss, no wondering if this or that will work, it just does over and over again every time. The car's been rebuilt and a lot of time and effort went into the suspension, but I still cant get over how smooth, quiet and rattle free it is, like a new car but better somehow. The hardback Recaro's are a perfect mix of firmness and support and looking out over the classic Porsche dials you feel so at home in that wonderful cabin, reminiscent of the older cars you've owned and loved but so much more comfortable and without the hassles......

I'm lucky enough to have great roads around me here in Hampshire, and again the car is perfect, the non-varioram feels free revving and waay quick enough for me, the gearbox is a delight and beautifully weighted, and as you really start to push it and enjoy the thrill, in the back of your mind you have all the confidence in those phenomenal brakes.

So this is now the perfect classic for me, classic in the later evolution of the 911 shape but still knowing you've got an air-cooled motor back there, classic in the experience of opening the garage door and feeling the pulse quicken a little, and classic in the feeling as you walk away from the garage after that drive knowing you've just experienced something special ......and the worlds not such a bad place after all.

Hi Mike just back from Wayne last night as he was mapping my ‘88 3.2 hotrod, std engine with 964 cams. His new website is easy to book a slot, turn up and he’s ready to go. I’ve had a few cars done by Wayne over the years and he is second to none. My car produced 257 bhp which I was delighted with drivability much improvemed.

Love what you have done with your car, very jealous.
I notice that you still have the standard gear knob. Back in the day when I had a 993, one of the best upgrades I made was an RS gear knob.
For me, the interface between car and driver, i.e. steering wheel and gear stick, is really important. I found the standard one very underwhelming in terms of ergonomics and looks.
The RS one felt and looked so much better. Would go nicely with that wheel, and if I remember it wasn't very expensive.
