Must admit the speeding patrols have got heavier... I only got stopped once in 4 years of the Le Mans run, which was never slow - most memorable was racing a friend in his 2.4S whilst I was driving my Corrado VR6 - regularly on the wrong side of the road past traffic doing 130mph... Had to slow down halfway back when Marcus'es brakes faded too much...

Fine for radar detectors is €750 + confiscation, even if they're not plugged in.

Going rate is €750 and licence confiscation for 50km/h over the limit too, although you can be lucky - we talked down the fine to €90 for 151kn/h in a 90km/h limit.

I've done a lot of runs down to Geneva and the mountains these past few years, and on the motorways you get no attention under 100mph. Even past that you don't see too many police, particularly in the week during the day or on a Sunday.

Sorry Ian still got it but my car is running great. Out today and was doing 95 in 5th and I was looking for another gear.....the engine is just so strong

I do fancy Le Mans....it's been 22 years since I've been!

(As posted on PCGB forum) How about this:

Outbound crossing:
Portsmouth to Caen Wed 5 Jul 2006 Depart 23:15 Arrive 07:15
Vessel is MONT ST MICHEL

Inbound crossing:
Caen to Portsmouth Mon 10 Jul 2006 Depart 17:00 Arrive 21:45 (meaning people will either miss the traffic in the UK, or be able to stop over if travelling further e.g. at Marks Express Hotel in Southampton)
Vessel is NORMANDIE

Cost for the ferry is £249 (inc cabin on the way out . . . I'll see if I can get a discount for a group booking)

So let’s say a 'group' of early Porsches will be on the following crossings. I will produce a pack for anyone that turns up with maps to Le mans/places of interest etc (i.e. a point of contact . . . but not running the show) experience suggests that the Classic is not something you can organise . . . you have to live it.
