Today I got the lower firewall and the surroundings finally welded.





The removable rear panel I will finish later when the body is back on.



So, next I started fitting in heating tubes...

Its coming on Hebster, thought you were thinking of using that flat 6 you got lying around???

There is a minor possibility it will drop in later. The enginebay is built so the rearpanel is easily removable and modified. I will first of all have to build it with stock engine and get it inspected and registered before I decide on continuing with flatsix conversion. The way the Finnish regulations are going to change there might be soon possible to do the flatsix conversion legally here too. Just have to be patient and wait and see how the regulations change during the summer.... Anyhow, a "stock 1600" can also be as much fun, even though nothing compares to the sound of a flatsix.. :D

Yesterday the butchering of the donor frontend continued. My plans in my head have been working innthe background and now I've got it figured out... I think...



I have to use the donorcars framehead as a jig for some rustrepair too...



Now cutting is done and it is ready to soon be fitted to the front...

Some rustissues that I have to repair before I can use the donorpart... Hopefully all done this weekend...





Yesterday this nice package arrived in the mail... :D

Finally took me the time to file down the bottompart of the custom steeringwheelhub so it fit nicely around the spokes on the old wheel.



Also found suitable clear Polyester resin to make the horn button so I finished the button. Fitted the logo into the splitbus button.



Then made a form from a spraypaint cap.... :funny:
Taped the logo into the button as tight as possible...
Mixed 40g of resin that I poured into the form and kept my fingers crossed that the resin would cure...:unsure:



Here finally with the form removed..




Today I sanded the front flat and sanded out the surface skin that was a bit tacky. Deeper in it was all cured..



After this I flipped it over and also mixed a small amount that I poured into the backside just for strength..

The bubbles removed themselves nicely before curing..
The resin I used is developed for making cast in decorations such as dried flowers, insects, coins etc.
