Why can't bad companies be named and shamed ??

Fear of litigation ?

As long as the facts are clearly stated and true then why not speak out - save another customer the grief.

I can only see one 'bodyshop' mentioned & I gather they did the work for Andy & for Mick

Brembo reports this and I can verify it is not the same shop that did the work on Mick's car. It ( Brembo's ) is located in the south.

What amazes me (and I don't want to get involved with who's done what to whom and when ) is that the actual shape in the filler must have taken ages, and no mean skill either.

I'd have thought it would have been quicker (not to mention more satisfying) to get it right in the metal, or at least within a m.m. or two.

Anyway, very best wishes with it Mick, it must be hard to remember this is all meant to be an enjoyable pastime at the moment. Still, Spring's around the corner, and those roads are waiting for you .

I'm not quite sure how to word this, but I'll do my best.

I think as a forum, we might have to be little careful around the current subject matter. The facts seem to speak for themselves, and any involved parties are well known (and P.M.able). I wonder if therefore it might be an idea that we refrain from getting any closer to an open Name-N-Shame, tempting as it may be. I can see a situation where the forum, and Bootsy in particular, may get pulled into a situation it / he would rather not.

Perhaps therefore if someone considering a particular trader, or wishing to trade observations, might use the P.M. system. E.G. if Mr Bloggs was thinking about going to Mr Trader, but is worried about something that has happened to Mr Forum Member's car, perhaps Mr Bloggs might P.M. Mr Forum Member direct?

Just to be clear on my own feelings with this car....
I am not a litigious person;
I decided long ago to take a sanguine approach to this car;
I have spoken to several people who have had similar experiences;
I have shared my experience of this car with DDK to hopefully benefit anyone who may be thinking of taking a similar route.

What started as a 4-6 month project has now used up 18 months of my life but it will be on the road in Spring this year (famous last words?). I've plumbed the depths ranging from euphoria to despair. For a lot of the time I've been helped, materially and mentally, by inumerable DDK'ers, for which I am deeply grateful.

The root of the problem...

A DDK'er kindly sent me this picture of the OSR corner in its' original form before its' first build:


Sound metal, just dented (understatement!)

And this is it prior to the original planned paint 'refresh' and as I bought it

I know how you feel Mick, I'm just coming up to the 4th year of my 6 month project! Thing is you know you'll have a wonderful car at the end of it,
and it will have been worth all the work, hassle and expense in the end, honest.......
