Hi James

car is on 205 and 225/50s, which are lower profile and my own choice/fault for the grounding, however the shorter wall height does give a nice firm ride and feels tight and direct.

I raised it 15mm or so in the end so its now exactly 24" at the front, and I guess around 1.5 degrees slope, no adverse feel when driving so i guess I'm happy with that

I also did the DIY MFI pump refurbishment, by following your thread and sending off to Fred at Tower (your right it does take a few old turns of the engine to get the fuel through the pump, but once done started first time)

£315 for an overhaul and testing the injectors, pretty fair I thought, now back to factory settings so a session up a Bob's will be in order in the near future

also couldnt resisit getting the hard fuel lines replated and the main throttle body link bar done as well , so she's all shiny and lovely in the engine bay again :)

Hi All

I went up to Bob Watson's yesterday morning, and 3 hours later all very happy

for those who know my car its been spotted giving off a bit of blue smoke once in a while, so I first had a leak down test which showed all in good health, and probably also confirming the guides are good too, which is good news for my wallet

cylinder 1 : 6%
cylinder 6 : 8%
cylinder 2 : 5%
cylinder 4 : 8%
cylinder 3 : 6%
cylinder 5 : 7%

perhaps it was the fuel mixture having to be so rich to get over the sticky pump, who knows

but the best news after having the pump serviced was the output, the pump needed 2 clicks adjustment to sort out a low mixture setting around 2300 revs, and a general fettling but after that basically 222BHP ! :) :)

pretty damn good for an engine thats not been touched in 5 years (maybe a lot longer) and sat idle for 3 of them whilst I restored the car and just had oil and filter changes by me over 2 years of use and 4500 miles

Does this mean we've got enough power to tow a caravan to CLM then?

Car looks great, and am particularly taken by the job on the wheels - I need to get around to having mine done.

I will be visiting Bob's over winter to get my engine fully tuned, as Tuthills did a refresh but I said I would get it on the rollers and see what bhp it makes - I would be delighted with the numbers you have from a standard engine.

hi Ian

it all seemed so easy when watching Bob at work, I guess thats why he's got such a high reputation and a really easy manner, well worth the money, runs really smoothly now

wheels were stripped, polished and anodised by Alan at Canford Classics, lovely job

I sprayed them myself which was very straightforward with a bit of patience and the right masking tape....slim and plastic so will stretch in the curves and gives a sharp line

nah, one of those little levers I used to have on my Fiat 500 that manually locked the pedal to the floor might do it!
