Never realised it was yellow, Joe. Coincidence or deliberate? Oh, car looks haunted!squirejo wrote:Still a fine sports car. 35k miles, sacriledge.

watched these two from a vantage point outside the wings and wheels airshow in surrey today...never seen so much traffic....so just stopped and watched from the road side in the end....turned out the better for us as they flew overhead....a memorable moment..KS wrote:Indeed - my uncle was 23 when he died in his Lancaster, one of the two oldest on the plane. Re: my non-Porsche picture of the day
Complete coincidence, just happened that when I wanted to buy the best were yellow. Perhaps cos owners were too embarrassed to be seen out in them. Still, I have wondered whether the theme should be continued. Giallo fly next? (One for Mike)left4dead wrote:Never realised it was yellow, Joe. Coincidence or deliberate? NSX- the only sports car in which The Boy will fall asleep. Says something about the ride quality. Today's suspension engineers really ought to use these time machines as benchmarks.

Friday lunch-time I was in the cockpit of this one as they fired it up and ran the engines - incredible!
Hopefully it will soon be a third flying Lancaster, in memory of the owner's brother who was killed over Nuremberg.
The most sobering things I saw there were the 2 large plaques in the Chapel with the lists of the men killed from just 2 squadrons based at East Kirkby...............
Were you at Dawlish, KS?

I did one of the 'VIP taxi runs' in the East Kirkby 'Just Jane' Lanc. Incredible, as you say. When they learnt that my uncle Alan flew in 57 squadron form East Kirkby, they sat me in 'his' seat for the duration, alongside the pilot... His name, Sgt A J Moore, is on the memorial plaque in the chapel:

Re: my non-Porsche picture of the day
A shot from a local banger meet this weekend.
I was certain the driver was dead after seeing the (two) impacts.
He promptly climbed out without a scratch on him and the commentator pronounced it "great entertainment".
The crazy thing is, the front impact was the drivers own fault (him deliberatly crashing into a competitor that he felt had wronged him) and then the rear of his car was thoroughly crumpled by the competitors team mate thinking he could even the score in an stupid act of sacrifice.
The crash was scarily violent.
But all good fun....
I spent some time looking over the vehicle trying to determine what it (once) was. I could see no recognisable features remaining....
