The round seat knobs were correct for 74&75.

Don't know what engine it has now but at one time it had a '73 911/83 which was also still fitted to the '73RS it was originally fitted to!

Ah, I hadn't even realised it might not be matching numbers.
I did think the low mileage claim was rather far fetched.
Lovely car though. The magenta colour is much better (and wilder) than I would have predicted.
I'm certain it will sell but I don't know what price they'll get.

A lot of RS's have 'gained' originality in recent years (along with the increasing values). Hey ho. Buyer beware.

As the car went back together Chestertons took particular care to protect areas that would not see protection in the final painting.
Any hidden sections were giving a coating before being sealed up.

Large sections of the old door posts were grafted into the new panel.
Here you can - just about - see the 'M8' code pressed into the original post (but not present in the current Porsche parts).

The car was assembled and fitted up with the windows in place.
That meant supplying Chestertons with door window frames and the opening rear windows & latches that they could pre-install during the build.
All to ensure good fit and verify even gaps.

And the roof is on.
The jig makes sure the window aperture is the correct dimensions and not skewed or twisted.

And then a trail fit of more panels and the shell is once again looking like a 911.
Lovely.

Fabulous and looks like a real 'old boys skills' workshop. Do they make the jigs as a 'one off' from factory dimensions or did they have them already ?

Probably patterned from a good known car I'd imagine.

Having all of those jigs might be a reassuring sight. They clearly know their onions at Chesterton bodywork. I can see why you used them.
