Organised a trip for the Yorkshire TIPEC group on Sunday. The day started with a very wet run to the Carding Shed in Holmfirth for breakfast. Worth a trip out on its own, great food and service, but also full of car memorabilia.

We then drove across the Pennines taking in the cat and fiddle, hope valley and winnats pass before heading to Belper to the Great British Car Journey. If you haven’t been it’s well worth a visit. The interactive audio guide is really good.

Good work Rob….. some major tenacity!

I’ve been driving my 1982 SC for the past couple of years rather than working on it. It just hadn’t needed anything, plus I had my then-long term ‘87 924S on my scissor lift. Well, I sold the 924S (gotta stress the “S”!) last October and immediately spent the money of this ‘57 Willys Pickup (like a child with Christmas money). It came to me in pretty nice Nick but I’ve done a bunch of work on it anyhow.

A few days ago I finally put the SC in the air to start a list of items, such as Oil & Filter, adjust hand-brake, flush brake fluid, replace door seals, etc. Giving it the visual once-over, I saw one of the rear ARB links had popped off. Went to the other side: SNAP, same thing. Apparently, common with a lowered car and non-original parts - these were Lemforder. I’d already installed Rebel Racing suspension pivots/bushings a few years back so ordered their adjustable rear links today. This does explain an odd sound it made last week and the rather squirrely handling.

Hi all, so having searched the site a fair bit I can see that many of you know the car I just bought. A white 1974 Carrera 2.7 Mfi, I believe it was owned by a member that sadly passed away. Nigel Sellicks (NigelC210). I never met Nigel but can see he clearly loved the car and some of you spent much time trying to convince him to paint it back to its original Orange!

I sold my 912 and 993 to fund the purchase.

My 912 was tangerine and whilst not right away I can say at some point it will be going back to Orange. I just love the colour.

The interior was stripped since Nigel had it so I would like to source that back to stock and other than that just a few jobs to do, Hopefully I will get it mid-August so ridiculously excited.

Congrats Ant. Can't wait to see it.

I remember Nigel well - we both had our '74 Carreras at the same time and used to compare notes. I'm sure he would be pleased that the car is in the hands of a caring new owner. I wish you well with your new toy!

911 took us to the Footman James classic bacon and coffee meeting at the local Chateaux Impney.
Great venue, 1000 cars booked and it seemed 1500 attended!
Took 50 mins to get in and parked, engine was at 216 DegF....

Most Porsche's attending were modern, but 2 914's and me in the '73T and the white supercharged hillclimber of Mr Norris.

I had booked to attend in my Elite but after waiting in the queue for ~25 mins & seeing that the majority of cars queueing seem to be mostly modern(ish), I turned round & went home ...

.

Right at the end of the queue were 4 people checking your 'entry', giving you a book, and a token for the free bacon bap.

If we go again we would plan to arrive around 10.30 when the 1000 cars booked were parked. There was an Elite there, about 20 cars in front of us so his radiator worked...

Lots of modern stuff and a few supercars, but some nice stuff too.
Probably will give it a miss next time.

My radiator/cooling system is fine - & I have a large diameter electric radiator fan (which I can switch on manually if needed) - but I get bored very easily/quickly at most car shows unless there are a lot of unusual/interesting (to me) cars there so decided to give it a miss.

The organisation & entry arrangements seemed overly complicated - why not just email the tickets (& have a separate point to collect your free breakfast tokens once inside & parked) ?
