The middle digit is the coachbuilder: 8 = Karmann, 9 = Porsche.

The last digit is the paint manufacturer. On 901 / 911 series cars: 1 = Lesonal, 2 = Glasurit, 3 = Herbol and 4 = Standox.

Thanks for the type911 tip - looks like £10+shipping and VAT might be the cheapest and easiest bet.

What do people think is the best way to remove the old tag - punch the rivets and drill them out or grind heads off and punch through?

My tag states 334-9-3.

334 is met blau. Anyone know what the 9-3 means?

Someone here used a Dremmel to put/file a line through the head, then used a flat bladed screw driver to just unscrew them
