Well it's been a while but now the wheel has been done just thought I'd update the thread as it's long overdue. Really thrilled with it, just have to get rid of the awful 996 one, do the airbag delete mod and fit it in using a 964 clam shell.

The new one's been done in the same leather as the interior, so should go well in there though I did draw the line at any more Riviera contrast stitching!

Then one of my favorite pics from last year to finish off for now, courtesy of Anthony Fraser.

993 update...

New steering wheel finally in, I'd forgotten how ugly that 996 one was..

The car went to Center Gravity last week, no need for me to bang on about how great they are as I think everyone knows by now! Suffice to say Pete and Chris
certainly know their Porsche's and the car's now beautifully set up, just as I like it for the roads I love. They organised new tyres for me as well, everyone's got a
different view but went with the Michelin's.

Never really thought of a 993 Turbo as a hairdressers car, but that one is, owned by a hairdresser I mean......

Then talking of the kind of roads I love, Pete at CG suggested the Fosse Way for the run back, sure beats the M42. A beautiful road to try out the new handling,
fantastic drive in a great car, I'm loving it and can't wait now for Classic Le Mans!

Nice one Mike. Was it just minor tweaks to the suspension settings ?

Hi James, Center Gravity were very complementary about the work Dick Lovett had done building up the car, all new parts in the suspension, dampers, wishbones and bushes etc. The corner weights and ride heights were spot on, but there was a lot of unequal toe-in at the back for some reason. This was putting more weight to the front of the car, making the steering heavier and more unsettled that it should have been, and upsetting the 'thrust', the dynamic effect of the car pushing forward from the back.

The guys at CG want to set the car up for your particular style of driving on the kind of roads you prefer, so for me and my wonderful mix of Hampshire A and B cross country roads they took a little of the camber out as well. They particularly wanted to do that with me running the 18" sport classic wheels (which they thoroughly approved of, ridiculously light) to eliminate a little tram-lining the car still suffered from.

Finally they set up the steering rack, it was a newly reconditioned one but not centered correctly, so the lock to lock was out meaning the new steering wheel was incorrectly positioned.

Obviously it all transformed the car, I have to say this is now the closest in front end handling to the Ferrari that I've experienced, fingertip lightness, effortless cornering ability and an absolute delight to drive. It's not cheap but you get to work along side them and you learn an awful lot as well, so for me worth every penny.

I’m a bit worried how much work the silver turbo is having if it’s been there for a week!

Lovely cars Mike and John.

John - would be interested to hear how you got on with the GT3 there and how you asked for it to be set up.

The Fuchs Sport Classic wheels got a lot of attention, CG couldn't believe how light they were next to the hollow spoke turbo twists, felt like half the weight!
