It's cars like this that have totally changed my view on originality (something I would never have veered from in the past).

It really was a fascinating day Mark.

The large studio has a kind of half dome at one end that's completely curved without any straight walls or corners and painted in a neutral light grey. The studio gets painted after every use! There's also a floating ceiling that can be winched above the object to change light etc.
Jamie simply pushed his car in without (it seemed) giving much thought to angle or position. Pulled a huge camera stand into position, attached his camera, focused and then never touched the camera again!
Jamie then spent the next two hours messing about with light using a number of different lamps to pick out various areas of the car without really shining anything directly at the car but by bouncing it off the walls and ceiling and obviously knew what worked.
He viewed everything on his tablet which also worked the camera. At one point he couldn't get a small lamp to stay in position without holding it so called me over and asked me to tap the button on his tablet, I guess technically that must be one of my shots!
It was very different to see the cars without any natural direct light on them and how you see them in the photos is pretty much how they looked in the flesh.

A brilliant experience and great to see how top professionals work. It will certainly make me think more about how I take my photos. I'd previously sent Jamie a studio image I love and Jamie pointed out a few things that could be better and he was dead right, previously I'd only really focused on the subject matter rather than the composition!

I think we all love great images. For me it's one of the greatest forms of art and without doubt Jamie is a very, very talented artist!

I took a number of shots during the day but autofocus and no flash didn't quite work so most were blurred......I have a lot to learn! ....

Factory original or modified, I love them all but cars that have been adapted in a period way will always be my favourites.

It's funny, I knew nothing of the GTS when I first started this project, at the time a 72 S with original M471 specification I'd seen at Hedingham was the closest inspiration, however as I began to learn more about the early competition cars the GTS certainly encompassed a lot of what I wanted to achieve. A very cool car indeed

The GTS in the Petrolicious feature is very special, I'd happily trade places........
