Just come off the phone with Eion Sloane (Race Car register secretary).

Format is going to be very similar to that of previous years. Price has yet to be finalised but will no doubt be cheaper than buying from ACO direct. Plus you've obviously got the added bonus (major bonus) of taking advantage/being part of the 'Porsche hospitality' (i.e. special club parking/facilities).

Although overseeing the process, he is using Club office to sort out tickets etc. When the time comes, you will have to write to Club office (so you'll need to be a member) enclosing a SAE, credit card details/cheques maybe even a photograph (real photo) of the car. Tickets will then be sent to you directly from Porsche Club France.

He reckons there won't be a limit to the number of cars accepted, so don't write now as your request will probably be binned. January's Porsche Post will have all the details. These details will include information on camping packages (i.e. they'll be a package for the race only, and one with camping included). You can’t do anything until January's Porsche Post. apart from book the ferry and accommodation if you need it (and can find somewhere).

Sorry there's nothing solid here . . . I think the main message is don't panic.

You say don't panic... but it's natural - I bet I'm not the only one here who's desperate to secure a place on the list
of those allowed to get some parade laps in!

We always do the run down from the Eurotunnel when we go to the other Le Mans - it may be a longer drive in France, but there are no speed cameras over there, great roads, and less police...

And I always do the 'long drive' route when goiunmg to Le Mans.
Argument for a convoy next year me reckons.

how long did you go down for last time? I was thinking of overnight ferry on 5th July back on late afternoon ferry 10th.Portsmouth/Caan is £249 2passengers,cabin out.

No speed cameras - fewer police - kidding aren't you!! shoot you'll have to tell me your route!!?? I know of 4 people who have been bagged on autoroutes out of ports in the last 6 weeks Also - remember scanning devices with laser detection are illegal in France - I think it's something like a 400 Euro fine(?)

We did Newhaven - Dieppe , Thursday morning out, Monday evening return. Cost £ 89 ish per car

It worked well although the return ferry journey was slow and you could never call the ferry's luxurious

Come be honest, remember how long it took to load and unload?. The ferry was the pits and I vouched never to use TransManche again.

The convoy from Calais at lunchtime struggled to get to Le Mans by 8.00 pm without a mad dash onto the motoray for the last stretch.

Last time we went Newhaven, Dieppe . . . with the dreaded www.transmancheferries.com.

A little closer to Le Mans than Calais. Ferry service was pretty terrible, but cheap and somehow cheerful.

The run down from Caen is IMHO the best however, downside is a 6 hour ferry journey . . . although they do have a singer in the bar. Agree with Viv . . . the french are getting pretty strict with speeding.

When we went over to Osnabrück in the Ghia we went Dover - Boulogne on Speedferries quick & cheap.
Current fare out 07:45 on 05/07/06, back 17:20 on 10/07/06 is £50 return for a car plus 2 passengers.
I will stress quick once again as I don't do boats without going green.

So is anyone planning to travel down from Scotland? I really fancy going and even taking the Porsche but it's a long way.
