Time for an update after a weekend in the garage

Front wings, bonnet and front bumper mounted, fit is ok ish for the most part except for the front bumper, it a tad narrow and I couldn't pursue it to open up and line up with the wings as I wanted, should've dry-fitted it properly prior paint, hindsight's a wonderful thing...
Also spent some time cleaning up the light housings and other random stuff going under the wings.

Then it was time for a slight accident, rear left lift arm slipped off the rear torsion bar and the lift arm damaged the sill which can just be seen as grey in front of the torsion bar cover :-(

Bad luck with the accident, but at least that should be not too bad to sort

Fitted the interior this weekend, need to fettle a bit more with parcel shelf and headliner on the c-pillars before the glass can go back in. Image

Thanks Tom!

Throwing out a hook here.

I'm looking for good condition front standard 19 mm torsion bars if anyone have something laying around. Must be free from any rust, not interested in over painted pitting etc.

Also looking for 1x original deep six, must be straight and undamaged structuraly but is going to be refurbished so anodizing, paint etc. is not important.

Thanks,
Magnus

Replaced front torsion bars with new std items, now needs raised a little as seen in photo.
Also fitted some new horn grills from Eric Linden in US - nice quality!

Snagging list for upcoming holiday in Aug is to:
- fit F & R screen
- fit drive shafts
- fit rear brake lines and pads
- prep, paint and refit fuel tank
- start-up

And as usual I'll be happy if half of it get knocked off the list :-)

Thanks for the kind words Gents! It's a driver refreshed on a budget which looks best on some distance and in the dark

Just want to get it back together and start fine tuning suspension and drive-train this year before the salty stuff arrives. In the long run I'll need to re-spray the front wings as the indicator lights don't sit quite right, should've dry fitted before paint and same goes for the front bumper... Anyhow that should be manageable over a winter.

Bit of an update

- Last couple of brake lines fitted.
- Decided last moment to fit new rather than rebuilding the driveshafts, even went through the hassle driving off to get new 12.9 screws in the same dimension as the old ones only to realise when back home (80 km round trip) that the new shafts had 7mm thinner flanges so had to hack 'em off...
- Had previously sent fuel tank away to be cleaned up and epoxy painted to save some time but once examined I wasn't particularly impressed by the standard so decided to clean tank which was in pretty good shape in and out, then silver soldered the horizontal seam all the way around, thinking this will prevent future rot, then etch prime and grey body shutz.

Then cleaned up some wiring under the trunk before it was time for startup and test drive. Did get a vid of it but don't know how to upload vid on tapatalk...
Anyhow, engine conked out so had to be towed back and I thought it was a faulty CDI but later found lose wire on the ignition switch, result!

The following day I drove it for some 30-40 min's and adjusted gear linkage and clutch, set ignition etc before draining the engine oil. Happy to report that there were zero metal debris on the magnetic plugs nor in the cut open oil filter, result again!

As usual life's got in the way with house building, setting up a new company etc. but now finally have some time for a long overdue update.

Car was finally finished around autumn 2017, I'm using the term finished loosely here as will become apparent during upcoming updates.

Anyhow, I only collected it from Sweden the following summer, basically its maiden voyage after the refresh was some 1500 km's down to Zurich which thankfully passed surprisingly uneventful. Then shortly after it was time for CLM, on the way there the oil pressure light came on which worried me as the engine was freshly rebuilt at this point, took my chances and continued the journey and whilst back home I measured the pressure and could confirm it was just a faulty pressure switch, that brave pill clearly paid off this time :-)

Car then re-entered as my daily for a few years and an annoying clonk appeared in the rear suspension, spent forever trying locating the sound to no avail, disconnecting rear sway bar, checking that new wheel bearing outer races were properly seated in the swing arms etc. etc. Finally it was time for the Swiss version of MOT and this is where the story is becoming somewhat uncomfortable :(

Looking forward to this story continuing. Your pain is our entertainment!
