Hope all is well. Having two restos on at once must surely be asking for a nervous breakdown? Or a wallet breakdown at least.

The "upgrade" on my 69 S (which was prepared for racing by someone who knows what they're doing) is SC calipers on the front. They certainly work. But I think it's a shame to lose the alloy S calipers - iconic early 911 feature, nice looking, light, apparently work well enough for a road car.
So, FWIW, I bought a set of (very) used alloy S calipers for my 70 car, and had them refurbed by Eric at PMB in the US. In X years time I'll tell you if they work. For now I can tell you that those alloy units all seem to need a full refurb (dissimilar metal corrosion to the pistons?) and that they look rather pretty when restored.

SC ones are a LOT cheaper!

On the calipers DustyM came to the rescue, I originally bought my E from Jon. Turns out he had taken the calipers off, sent them away for refurbishment and there were still sitting wrapped up in his workshop. Deal agreed to cover the cost of the refurb, top man. Alloy calipers sorted.

I have been having to buy other parts with the dry fit, seals, trims etc. It wont be long before the car gets a full coating of epoxy primer, at this stage I am hoping to install the engine, gearbox and basically build up the whole car, then make sure everything is correct, the last stage would be full paint. Not keen on painting the car and then having the mechanical's done, no matter how careful garages are there is some damage, scuffs, etc.

This also arrived from Germany (sourced via Porsche), not required at the moment but very nice all the same.

Yes, Darren is right, only round durant mirror on a Rhd car as per the very first photograph on this thread.

You will be looking forward to paint Tom. I know how you can't wait to see Gemini on the car. I'd like to see how this turns out (for future reference).

I cant believe the mirror spec, I will go with the flag mirror and keep the round rather than selling it. I think the flag mirror is nicer and used Darren's E as a reference not realising this was LHD spec only. Not to worry.

Yes keen to progress, especially when the Alfa is moving at a pace, makes me realise how slow I am going with the E. I need to get the Gemini colour correct, I can see a few sample cards being sprayed out and will probably give you a shout nearer the time.

The flag mirrors are easier to use too.

You could get the rear number plate panel or the petrol flap painted first and use it for comparison with others. There is a gemini car I know about locally but the owner is not too easy to get hold of. He is the original owner but I am not sure if it is original paint. I could try and ask for a comparison when the time comes. Looking forward to seeding the Alfa too!

Sound choice, I think the flag mirror looks far better imo which is why I fitted one to my RHD T......I only mentioned it for reference, a simple swap if you ever want 100% originality.

If you do go this route you could get the engine bay, under bonnet, door shuts and window flanges painted first and do the main body once mechanically complete. It's how every old school Aston used to be done, including a road test before top coat.

Sounds good. I will speak to the bodyshop and try and do this, makes more sense than having to tear everything apart again.

Not from the factory

Not sure if I have asked this already, apologies if I am repeating myself.

Its easy to loose momentum and focus with work, family life and other cars getting in the way.

Is there a recommended workshop who would renovate my fuel tank?

I priced a new one and it was seriously expensive via Porsche. The original one looks solid enough, there are a few dents which I would like taken out but the integrity and cleanliness is the key element for me.
