Barry's 'New for 2013' sills as requested Darren!!....

The sills had already had a basic backdate, with the side pressings removed, and the side holes welded.

The later drain holes are very different to the early ones, and are differently spaced. In addition, later sills have two holes on the top surface that are not present on earlier ones. New early style sill drains were fabricated using a new tool, and the sill-top holes filled in....

Long overdue update.....

Been bloody busy and haven't really had chance to really thank Barry 'The Metal Meister' for the hard work, care and attention to detail he put into my shell.

So Barry thanks a million.....absolutely stunning job!

I'm a fussy bugger, so also credit to him for putting up with me during the whole process. Anyway towards the end of March this year Barry finished up the shell and it was time to leave his workshop.....

I was mightily impressed with the paint job on Richard Murphy's car and I also wanted to replicate a similar paint finish (i.e. as close to how it would of looked when it left the factory in 1971). I know shiny sh*t sells buts this car is intended to be a long terms keeper so that side of things does not bother me as much as an original look to the finish. With this brief relayed to Darren and in turn to Rich (his in house paint guru) work began. Attention to detail throughout the whole process was requested and delivered in spades.....I will just let the pictures do the talking....

Because the decklid is aluminium we were a little bit worried about drilling but everything turned out OK.

This thread (and yours John, and Darren's) so make me want to get my shell done and proper paint just because it looks so damn good! :)

It doesn't 'need' it I can't afford it, but that doesn't mean I don't want to do it!

Chill…..shiny, straight, solid and new is cool…but honest, worn, lived-in and well used is even cooler! 8)

And btw….you boys ain't seen nothing yet!
