Cool 8) Good work Gary.
Did you find flow rates for the injectors yet ? I've not seen my contact :(
Looks like my carb is running well for you at the moment :)
Cheers

Hi Tim,

I went through a contact at Mira whose husband works at Triumph and they appear to be (from my memory) 36lb/hr which sound a reasonable number.

And Yup the car is back up and running on your carb 8) many thanks
I can't get the idle below 1300rpm on the stops, so I guess your thoughts about the spindle wear breathing more than the venturi may be correct :) I haven't adjusted anything, just dropped it on, so maybe the airbypass screws are also wound out or something? Anyway it does just fine for now and will enable plenty of data collection once I get all the sensors in place.

I've just realised that I've run out of solder :( so the temporary harness will have to wait for today. However I have been playing with the Ford HT leads and you can pull the wire out of the 90 deg adaptor, put a pair of long nose pliers in to open the fitting and slide the standard Porsche HT lead straight in, nip it up a little through the rubber and you are done! 8)

Thanks :)
and with the TPS there on the end of the spindle, you can check out that part of MS too.

Maybe I should have added a couple of smileys; for instance -

Insulation displacement connection - how to w4nk3r your wiring in one easy step.

Gary - why did you choose Megasquirt? Is the Man-In-A-Shed attraction or good value etc? I have an Emerald M3D brain for my (long overdue) Bug project.

Value, it's the only way I can do engine mangement for the cost of a carb!

I've had the unit built, so to me it's just an ECU, just it's a £270 ECU not a £700 ECU 8)

Talking of man in the shed...I want to get back in my house

My EDIS6 harness is done, just need to summon the bravery to actually hook it up and start the thing...

I'm deep into producing the main harness now, my 'build it for a favour' contact ran off scared when faced with the final diagram, so back to me now! I now remember why I did mechanical engineering, not electrical

Anyhow it's coming together, at a slower pace than I would like, but getting there. There is some 74 metres of wire in the harness, probably more than the original 911 harness. It's completely stand alone (other than a switched 12V from the key), so I guess that's why it's come out so big.

Back to my soldering iron and heatshrink... :)

Cheers for the offer Tim 8) ,

My harness build is going OK, just slow. It's only wires, no components so it's just a matter of following my pin out and stick diagrams until it looks like something I might trust to run a car  I'll scan and post up the diagrams tonight so you can have a laugh at my electrical layout and random pencil doodles

One electrical question... I've sourced (and already used!) enough 2 core shielded wire for my VR sensor to EDIS connection so that should be OK as the original Ford was non shielded. The electrical guys here say twisted pair and shielded is the way forward if I'm really paranoid about noise. However making up twisted pair shielded wire is easier said than done. So what would you recommend for the PIP and SAW connections?

I could have got you some screened twisted pair :( !
The PIP and SAW are seperate signals, and so NOT twisted but screened, according to the diagrams I've seen. Terminate the screen at the EDIS end only.
Doodles are good :)

Err.. assuming one had some screened twisted pair would this be OK to use for PIP and SAW? (may have found a local source :) (other than yourself! :) ))

You dont want the PIP signal cross talking with the SAW signal. You'd be better to have them run as individual screened signals rather than as pair within the same screen. If Screened twisted is all you,'ve got, run it twice, PIP down one cable (join the pair together) SAW down the other.
