I don't know what they've been smoking over at PPG, but I'm pretty sure this Bahama Yellow is not Bahama Yellow.

Looking good Jamie, difficult to say whether the colour looks correct on a PC monitor, but still looks great!

And more importantly I see you have started to fit parts to the car ( very satisfying )

Did you go for Darryls PPG mix in the end or PPGs own?

Darren may take longer deciding which steering wheel to fit than I did choosing a colour, so perhaps I can throw the thing back together and beat him to the line.

The colour is a weird one. It's dark Bahama Yellow. The giveaway is that PPG also listed a Bahama Yellow Light Mix on their system, which to me says that someone 'improved' the accuracy later on. Either way, I liked this colour when I bought the tester pot, so decided to go with it. It doesn't show well in the phone photos, but I'm not going to take any proper shots of it till I've colour sanded all the orange peel away!

The colour looks about right to me, the engine lid, shot outside, looks very similar to the original paint i have in the door shuts on my '68 912.

Hello again.

Been abroad on work for a few weeks. I took the aeroplane and it was a ridiculous trip - 9 hours in the air each way up to the middle of Norway. On the way home the engine began to run rough mid-way over the North Sea. Was a bit of a reality check and I'm still recovering mentally. I don't think you can really define the sensation of doom until you are faced with the prospect of ditching in the sea, 100 miles from the neared landmass. As such, I'm in a weird mood and can't find the enthusiasm to crack-on with the car.

But I figured I should at least try, so this evening I put a few more coats of high-build on the front hood. I've decided I've done the best I can with filler, and that high-build primer is the the only way I'm going to get the thing done right. Kind of difficult to explain why - filler got it 90% there, but the last bit is a fiddle because the dented metal doesn't have a lot of strength and flexes if you push about on it. The sensible thing would be to buy a carbon hood from Nick Moss, as much as the sensible way of getting to Norway would have been in an airliner. But, y'know.

Not quite the same but I lost the brakes on my bike a few years ago and had to play chicken across a main road. Kind of brings life into focus!

PS love the progress. I liked the blue but you don't cuddle up to me each night
