Reminds me of my youth except the cars were beaten up fiat pandas and trucks with mahhosive speakers. I never got on with the morning birdsong. Told me I'd feel shite for a week.

FWIW, I prefer Bahama. And I usually prefer blue to yellow cars. But in this case, on that car... yellow.

Hmm. Both colours would look great but personally bahama yellow would look awesome with your 66 house, methinks.




And just to throw in a wobbly: Palomino or Porsche beige grey metallic. a "paint-to-sample" colour taken from a '64 cadillac, and was on the Manhattan Award 73,5 T. Bit of beige, bit of grey, not slate nor silver and one of three cars painted by Porsche as such, apparently.

Bert, you are a disgusting tease. That's a stunning colour - right up my street - but I ruled-out metallics long ago. Too complicated for a first attempt.

Looks like Bahama is on. BAHAMA IS ON, MOTHERFUCKERS. I'm not re-neg'ing on that - it's Bahama. 100%.

Unfortunately I have to go away on work, so I can't do paint now till the end of June, or possibly July.

People who know about this project often ask when it will be done. I never set a proper target for it, but at the beginning of the year my answer was September, which I figured was pretty pessimistic and easily achievable. Back then, I didn't envisage I would do the paint prep myself. Well, now I'm imagining it'll be the beginning of 2016. And then a tortuous wait for the salt to clear off the roads before it can be tested, registered and used. It's amazing how long these projects can take. Has anyone ever totted-up the total number of man-hours to restore an old Porsche?

Also, does anyone want my old front bumper? The deco strip has been removed and it has been driven into every solid object in California at least once, but it's rust free. Not that bumpers rust, mind. It's taking up space in my garage and pissing me off. Yours for £20 to the DDK Macmillan fund.
