John, I have my racing habit/addiction under control. I don't have the cash and/or time to prep, mend, enter, crash, maintain, mend, tune or develop a race 356, much as i'd love to. Ah well, just have to keep watching the blogs. W

I think it's about time this thread was handed back to Steve and stories of HIS 356 race car, rather than discussing other people's cars, 356s or Talbots... Agreed?
Can always start a new thread on other people's 356s...

I thought it was about 356 race cars in general
Am extremely sorry to talk about racing in general and 356 in particular
Will leave it to Steve
His cover picture on HMRN this month superb.
Perhaps someone should explain why two separate race threads are needed?
Steve is busy trying to do a 3 10 at Spa this weekend as other 356 did earlier in year,
There are only five 356 being raced seriously, thread each?
Let's see what happens!

Oh for goodness sake, I don't see Steve being upset in any way with his thread including comments made not directly involved with his car. I watched for some years, the popular 356 forum in the States slowly getting more and more involved with people messing it up to the point where now I never look on it.
Forums should be free wheeling as long as no personal attacks are made. His thread is all about his experience into racing a 356 it might well become boring actually, if nobody branches out a bit in the written conversation to keep his wonderful effort alive.
Sorry all that is of course written under the wonderful forum expression 'IMHO'.
Roy

A bit of thread 'drift' is good I think.
I find this thread really good. As a bit of a racer myself, it does me good to know others are having the same ups-n-downs and how they deal with that let alone the techie stuff.
I have a huge thread on another forum about my hill climb car which originally was started to find the chassis number, then getting the car built, then getting it to go right, then getting me to go right in it (un-finished business) and now it is a simple race blog with the thrills and spills.
As good as nobody now responds to all my reports, but it gets 1000 hits a week at times, 329,000 so far, 1900 posts etc.
People enjoy reading about the things a person battles with, and the drifts that have occurred throughout break it up nicely.

Looking at the time sheets Steve got down to a 3.32.
The 356c running in the 6 hour did a 3.22.

Will comment on the thread drift another time. Busy trying to keep breakfast down as we race this morning. Realised I drove like a complete pussy at Silverstone so have got some b*lls back and managed to post 3:32 on only my third time in the circuit - holy shite this circuit is fast. 356C was inspirational but my god he spent most of the 6 hour staying out the way of the GT40 Wolves. A 3:22 is impressive in my book but then again I expect to find 10 seconds with disc brakes, Avons and more than two sessions under my belt
Full race report to follow....

Just came across this photo on the Autosport forum, looks like Oulton Park August '13. Some nice rallycross action! Better late than never...
Thanks

Steve did a 3 23 in the race which when you compare it with an American who is one is of the quick 356 drivers on other side of pond is not to shabby.
He came across a couple of years ago and I let him drive my drum braked A and having never been to Spa did the same time as Steve on his first venture at Spa. Good job.
Gareth did 3 13 in same car and Lee Maxted Page 3 16.
We will be going to Portimao at end of October with our A tub and have to see what happens
Pity the entry for Pre 63 was so poor in numbers.
Difficult to run class when on same programme as 6 hrs.

Should point out that this was Steves first go at Spa and the first time you do Eau Rouge and Pouion gets your attention!
