Thanks Alan - what was the problem with the motor that caused it to be stripped down again?

Also changing the cams - was this to try and sort out a problem that turned out to be elsewhere or were there things about the cams you didn't like?

I'm really interested in this engine as I'm planning on building something like this one day

Cheers

Mark

Hello,

The issue with my motor was not related to cams, something else which was easily sorted after the rebuild.

We have changed the cams 3 times in my motor as I want more horse power. The S cams were changed to DC 60s so to push the max torque up the rev range hence gain some HP. You can read all the books about what is best but it still comes down to testing. As my motor is now twin plug we are going to fit the GE80 cams. This motor first dyno'd on S cams at 270bhp, the second dyno on the 60s can not be used due to the other engine issues, but I should have the 3rd dyno on GE 80s once Mike B has finished the build.

Thanks

Alan

Hi Alan

Didn't realise there was a thread on your car.As I said before I think this is a great car and seeing the spec you chose for the engine made for
really intresting reading. Can't wait to see how much power your engine
makes in the end and it would be great to see the power curve on a
graph.I have also decided to go the 3.0 route as the short stroke engine
is maintaining the character of the car, hopefully in the future I'll get round
to modifying it in the same way you have. The one mod I have done is to
spec throttle bodies and an engine management system that can be remapped as and when I do the mods-with this I hope to get 25+mpg
which will be a bonus as i'd like to keep the car.I should get the car back at the end of the month-can't wait to drive it.

Cheers Patrick

I think you will do this and more with modern EFI Patrick, the 3.6 transplants are doing 35ish with decent mapping. I would expect a 3 litre on ITBs and SSis to manage 30 quite easily in a fairly light car.

Your car is looking absolutely mega by the way, I love it.

My GE80 cams have arrived from the US so the car should be back on the road again soon

Also Mike, has just sent some pics..... not long now.

Heads have been ported, polished and air flowed

Since you are in there, you could always do something like this:

Given your goals, I'd think a 102 lobe center DC90 would have been a cool option, too. The options are endless, aren't they? :D

Hi Kenikh,

Thanks for the pictures, they look great.
I also agree on the cams and did start with getting some DC 80 made and did also think about John's DC 90s, but given the time I needed them I went with WebCam for the GEs.

Thanks again

Alan

Late to this thread (I need to read from the start), but wondered what rear wheel / tyre combo this BHP is going through ?

Off topic -------------

Patrick - Paul mentioned they had a 3.0 transplant to do with ITB - must be yours? Paul loved the 3.0SC engine in the powder / pastal blue car in 911PW magazine, so I am still not 100% off doing a transplant. Will watch with interest how yours works out.
