Shocked and very saddened. Last time I met Chris was at Goodwood Revival with Paul Heales, how very awful that neither of them are with us now.... Can someone on DDK get me a contact for those looking after his estate as I've some parts with him that I'll now need to get.

Sad news to hear. Spoke with Chris afew times over the years and got parts from him, as others have said he was very knowledgeable and always gave practical feedback.

Keep a look out for each other.

So sad to read this, sometimes it’s impossible to tell the signs.

Westbound, I’ll send you a pm regarding some cars and parts that are there.

Robin - I'm in the same boat as you - will send a pm like wise.
This is clearly sad news - I've visited and drunk tea with Chris over what seems like a long time ....15 + years , and would agree with all that has been said already. He had a good knowledge of the earlier cars , and we had rallying and engineering , and doing things differently as common ground ! RIP

So sad to hear this news. Used to love discussing early 911's and related engineering challenges with him, sometimes in agreement, sometimes not, but always welcome and to a level that is rare within the industry. Visits to this most chaotic of workshops will always be memorable, in a good way.

As some have said already, It's good to do all we can to keep talking to each other and keep each other engaged and alive (in every sense of the word). It's never really about the cars, they're just the excuse to meet the people you do along the way.......

Very sad to hear about this,I had some very good times talking to Chris in the office about his rallying times, and his time with different rally cars.
He will be sadly missed,as others have said, his knowledge and expertise in having parts made will be a great blow to the early Porsche world.

I don’t want this thread to become anything other than a tribute to Chris

However given there are many people with parts etc and not knowing what to do please can you PM me

I’ve had a few chats today and can put you
In touch with somebody who may be able to help. No promises but likewise no misinformation

Let’s keep this thread to remember Chris

I posted this picture in the 'non-Porsche picture of the day' thread yesterday but thought it would be salient to post it in this thread too ...

Chris Flavell co-driving with John Morris in the 2004 Astra Stages Rally (where they came 6th in the Historic Rally):

I never met Chris, only knowing him from what he posted on here which was always in such detail, enjoyable to read and very helpful.
I'm very sad indeed to hear the news. RIP Chris.

Terrible news!

I only met Chris once, at a DDK Christmas lunch in the North that had been organised by James (Hot66) and from memory he had travelled with Ian Macleod to that event. I was also a beneficiary of his sourcing expertise and resourcefulness in the shape of a pair of swb rear wheel bearing kits that he put together for a group buy; they were a precautionary purchase that remain in my parts hoard to this day.

May he rest peacefully and his suffering be over.
