Many thanks, just to get it right that part number is from Porsche? Is it for a standard pump for standard engine (without cooler) or is it the 4 ribbed SC, not had chance to research.... the paperwork would be great please.

Popped into Redline today and 6 boxes containing very expensive pieces of metal had been delivered

Image

Was a bit disappointed as assumed for the price they would be gold plated and diamond encrusted!!

The upgraded pump isn't to do with extra oil coolers, it gives better oil pressure. You need to make sure redline do the oil relief mod to the case

Hi James

I sent the list to Redline and spoke to them and they are unaware of the 'oil bypass mod'...? Are you able to give more detail of this please....

The internet can be your friend :)

Thanks for that, I've had a look and is fairly straight forward. Will sort next week... looking at Pelican parts thread its not that well known. You should get your cat trained in doing it, could be a real earner!

Alarm bells ringing for me if Redline do not know about oil bypass mod. What else don't they know? Phone Mike B and have a chat with him, he will at least help you ask the right questions.

Does anyone else know Redline and what they've done before?

I have a refirbed 4-rib in mine - got it off the internet, Mike B took it apart and checked all was good

Rich, redline run a very successful Carrera Cup team so do know their Porsches.

I've not used them myself, but am interested to see how Adam gets on .

Saying that, I only ever use Dave Raper to work on my Porsches ( all but the 2.4S) . He set up on his own preping race cars, porsche specialist etc , but previously was Redlines head race mechanic for richard westbrook etc

Popped into Redline today and work coming on slowly with the rebuild. Does anyone happen to know where I can get the fan along with the 'casing' (unsure of its name) that 'wraps around' the fan, coated. They have been blasted as I assumed they were to be painted but I spoke to James and checked Darrens and they appear to be treated in some way.....?? The next picture is Darrens:

Looking at the 2.7RS they are rebuilding the 'casing' has been painted a grey colour:

I assume Darrens to be correct...?

Hi Adam

Fan and housing should be chromated, Neil Bainbridge or CanfordClassics can do this for you. Make sure you don't let them powder coat them as once done they are very difficult to return to a factory finish.

Here is mine, its actually a little lighter in real life. You need to remove the centre and have it plated, it then needs to be riveted back in using the correct rivets.

Also on the RS the fuel line are finished in the wrong colour, they should be clear (silver) not gold.

Kind regards.

Redline are a respected race outfit but what DETAILED knowledge do they have on working on older cars?

The devil is in the detail with pre-74 cars and that's what makes the difference - they are not instilling with confidence from what I'm seeing here - who's pre-74 cars have they worked on and rebuilt previously and have you pictures of their engine bays and reports from owners?

You only get one chance to do this right....

Unless you are James of course in which case it will take you 10 attempts and still not run right
