looked at some of the interior pics and thought 'interesting grey carpet inside', until I realised it was the salesroom floor! Fred Flinstone would be happy.....

Does anybody know the story on this? It's fascinating to find out why someone who bothered to hold on to a car would let it deteriorate to this condition, or was it just forgotten about for decades half submerged in a bog.

An equally interesting question is how they managed to transport it without it collapsing into pieces.

I know anything can be saved, but what from this car would you actually transfer into all the new metal work?

The near side door in the original Bonhams' shot is missing. This one is held on with cable ties in an attempt, I guess, to make the car more presentable.

Offside door is cable tied to the steering wheel but fortunately the glass was missing hence the internal shots. Nick, - forewarned - will be attending today with a knife to gain entry hoping to find at least one identifying number on the car...

In fact, I lost count of the number of cable ties throughout holding the poor thing together (apart from front hood which was just resting which I slid forward to be presented with a fine view of the marquee flooring).

the car looks like it worth it's chassis number and that's about it. Such a shame!!

From a dealer perspective what price would you put on the identity, Edward?

Just received an update from Nicholas.... Someone had removed the knee pad to reveal the correct chassis number.
Nick poked his camera into one of the packing cases and came out with a shot of the engine number which would appear to be correct. Bingo; matching numbers.
So, anyone with an available donor RHD '67 available to swap identities?!!

Car has sold.... Many congrats to the aforementioned JW who secured the car for £26,500 plus commission, etc.
Let the restoration commence!

Not £30k.

I think however if the new owner can negotiate a high quality resto he will end up with a great very early very rare RHD S.

It's going to take a lot of skill, time, effort and quite a lot of cash (not to mention patience).
Lets wish the new owner "All the best" and " Good Luck", can we have a full restoration report on here please...

Is it just me? But I'm disappointed in the figure raised for the W196... Less than a GTO and, in my head, it's worth more. Fella stole it.
