thanks guys and welcome Bro to DDK. I'm not sure the HSCC reg's allow recording but I'll check. No doubt recording why you spun or trying to figure out how the guy beside you got round the bend 5mph quicker can't be a bad thing!

As an aside, does anyone know if a 356 will stand drag-racing starts? I'm used to hi-po VW's that have benefitted from 40 years development where you can side-step the clutch and not worry. I'm keen to know whether we can leverage the 356 traction off the line or whether we're going to have to be a bit more gentle. Ian (from WPS who is sharing the driving chores) is used to side-stepping the clutch at 10 grand and wheelstanding his cars off the line, so I want to know if he needs to be a whole lot more gentle

Don't mention those possible intentions whilst in earshot of your lovely red car, it might change to a white coloured car very quickly

How good are the transmission mounts Steve? Probably all new under there, if not, those sort of starts might make for more than a shakey start if you just drop the clutch. If its not pouring down with snow or rain, I might well come down in the morning on the 24th to see how you get on. Are you there all day?

The HSCC says that "data acquisition or data logging systems are not permitted, Any electronic or mechanical inputs, probes sensors or transducers are to be removed or disconnected during a race meeting (i.e. Official timed or untimed practice and the actual race. Under no circumstances whatsoever may any probes, sensors or transducers relating to any type of data acquisition or logging systems be connected into the car’s chassis or engine wiring loom."

I would assume that they are refering to something like the Racelogic Vbox. This records your braking g force and has GPS as well as video and lets you compare laps and drivers. But you will see why I didn't recommend this to you.

Sisu, interested in your views. Why is it you don't recommend the race logic box and prefer the Hero-cam? Is it simplicity of use or is there more to it than that? In terms of the rules and regs, HSCC meetings are often preceeded by test days - my own view would be that they do not constitute part of the meeting and so one could use some of this kit then before disconnecting it for the meeting. No I am all for the racelogic Vbox, I think that they are a wonderful tool for the job.
I have worked for a number of years with this sort of thing in modern cars and the Vbox is a product made for trackday users. I think that most of you would be interested in this sort of detail as a point of reference to your own car.
But I know Steve doesn't like this sort of thing.
So I hope this didn't come across the wrong way Robert. The gadgets and added electronics aren't his cup of tea. I just suggested the Go-Pro Camera as this was just something that would suit Stevens personality better.
If he doesn't like it he can give it to his kids to make movies of thier own.
