Re: 912/6 Project – new pics added
At last – the car is now in the workshop...
This is what we found with the wheels off (for the first time., believe it or not).
All new discs (just rust around the perimeter) and freshly refurbished calipers!
Dash corners are just about perfect – only light surface rust, which wire-brushed off. Rear quarters perfect.
Dash has had the wiring hacked around and loads of holes drilled...
Rear slam panel bent from rear end accident. Just enough to pull the left hand rear wing in by 1/8 inch.
Hmmm, something got hot!
That'll be the front part of the wiring loom, then...
Better than expected. Had a past repair, which is being tidied up/redone as necessary.
BUT we found no more rust than we knew about. Repairs started today. More pics as they happen...

Right hand seat base chopped out...
And new section from Restoration Design let in...
New parcel shelf from the same source, too...
Bye-bye 912... Hello 911!
What a mess! Note the 'race car' fuel lines...
Already knew about this, so not too worried...
Yes, that is expanding foam used to 'seal' the replaced floor...
We're dropping out the whole floor so we can straighten it out and install it properly this time...
Other updates – now have steel bonnet and a set of wheels on their way, of which more anon. Julian Reap is redoing me
a set of gauges (’68 S). Classic Corbeau seats acquired, too. We're getting there...

Making progress Mr. KS, any thoughts on colour (or did I miss that bit?).
I love the smell of burnt rubber and hydrocarbons in the morning, it smells of......victory.

Colour? That's a secret (don't tell anyone – it'll be Leaf Green).
Bit like this, but without those dreadfully common Fuchs wheels.
(Or all that garish 'chrome' stuff...)

Re: 912/6 Project – new pics added 7/5/12
Spent time getting the gaps right. Pretty pleased with the results...
Floor looking 100 per cent better than it did – dropped it out, blasted it, straightened it, blasted inside the sills ansd then refitted the floors. Long-winded job but worth it:
Don't think much of the skinny-wheel look...
The new 'pedal mount' panel doesn't match the floor below the pedals – anyone know which needs to be modified?
Funny, I just read back through this series of posts and can't help but laugh at my original appraisal of the car, as in 'no rot', 'never hit'... I must have been on drugs.

Hi KS
Nice project. Can you tell me where is the best place to get Restoration Design repair panels from, direct from RD or European agent?
Thanks

I got mine direct - very easy to deal with and very fast service.
But they do have a European agent:
http://www.jomaparts.com/en/home
Maybe worth a try!
Good luck.
