Where was the DDK stand situated? We were there on Sunday, I saw the PCGB and TIPEC stands but couldn't find the DDK one

We left about one o'clock, after arriving about 10.30, and saw Johnny's 356 sitting in the two mile tail back (I checked on the odometer) waiting to get in.

Oh well, there's always next year. Didn't think it was as good as the Calendar Classic though...

I almost pulled off the 'country gentleman' look ..... wrong sized jacket is the way real 'old money'd ' chaps do it Anyway, make the most of me looking that smart ... it doesn't happen often .

The show itself has great potential , but needs all the different areas to be linked together. As it is, the event is spread over a large area & because of this lacked a 'buzz' . Shame the weather was poor ..... the main show field was a bit of a bog on Sunday morning so I ended up parking my car down in the staff car park as we were heading off at lunchtime anyway.

I'm planning on make the journey again in 2009 as the drive up there is nice & relaxing & through some loverly countryside. In fact the drive was so relaxing I averaged over 25mpg for the full 400 mile round trip.


Dicey .... DDK were almost next to the TIPEC lot There were not many of us though

James looking like that you would fit right in a Goodwood.. People might even talk to you unlike me in my Jeans and shirt

that tie is the same as I had at school!!! 5 years of the same green and yellow stripe

we were up aginst the fence at the top of the field,
you can see the Tipec stand/gazebo over James right shoulder in the above photo. but the DDK stand did get rather hidden by the Kit car clubs marquees.

Doh! It would appear that I couldn't see the wood for the trees - or the Porsches for the Kit Cars...

next year we'll do it properly and make sure we get the DDK banner and maybe even a gazebo

Sorry you couldnt find us, Dicey..you might have been looking for the 356 but I wasnt on the stand at all in the end - was hoping to be on the Sunday but health and safety got in the way..again

Heres a little vid of one of the tests on the grounds. The gradient meant there wasnt much grip on the grass, (which is my excuse for not using the handbrake!). Sorry about the fancy edit, I can never resist!

Never seen my bro' looking so dapper....and your 356 is this months 'pinup' on the DDK calendar... (much prefer Septembers though)

Only two of them were, the rest was out and about - including at a sprint circuit 40 minutes away. I dont think they will be anywhere near the castle next year - at least two of the tests this year were suffocated by the health and safety crazy gang. The way things are going, cars will only be allowed at the show if they are on trailers and drained of petrol.. .You dont mean you actually want to drive it? Oh, we cant allow that..

Just read on the Caledonia Classic car website that Johnny and I finished second in the night naviagation section! Not bad for a first time and in a car with little or no lights and an navigator that doesn't know his right from his left

Just seen this Brendan! We werent far off 'fast Archie' in a lot of the other tests either, but of course lost loads of points at Turnberry, which would have been too abusive to the old porch to really go for it on that surface.

Good work that man - the small problem with the hilarious left-right thing (it only happened once anyway!) far outweighed of course by your determination, competetiveness, attention to detail and stamina! Not to mention your ability to talk to anyone. Couldnt have stumbled across a better co-pilot, all in all.

A partnership is born. Well done you guys. Maybe you should consider doing the Monte Carlo next year......


Of course you forgot to mention your mechanic who worked through the night charging your battery, changing to 'wets' for the night session and relighting the candles in your headlights. Not to mention doing all this in period overalls.
