Oh I think much better to pay an expert who knows what they are looking at to go out, then go yourself to bid if they report back it's worth it.

Hi all, just looked at Bonhams site and RS prototype 0012 sold for $480,000 !

Prices seem soft to me. This is a big sales weekend (Gooding at Pebble Beach today and tomorrow also, selling a LOT of cars). There were some nice cars in the Bonhams sale yesterday that just didn't appear to make the money. A 275/GTB4 broke all recent records at Maranello a few months ago and a decent looking alloy one didn't sell yesterday. Not sure if its wildly overly optimistic reserves, or a buyers strike?

The market's getting way more selective, and the best cars (originality and history) can still fetch strong money, ie just under $5m for both the Talbot Lago & the Jaguar E2A, both time-warp cars.

I think Gooding may have overcooked it this year - better to have focussed on a handful of really special and unique cars, and focus on the deep pockets.....

I agree, the Jag and the Talbot Lago sold well.
But the general across the board momentum of a few months ago doesn't seem to be there. Gooding have definitely overcooked some prices but hey, lets see if people pay them for the decent, no stories cars. If so, nothing to worry about! I'm good thanks, Moscow is a sauna at the moment!!

Thanks for that Nick, now I understand previous refs to the 'engine being in the passenger footwell'!

I wish I could find the full story to this cars motor, but nobody seems to know, or is telling...

It upsets me because this is my perfect recipe for an RS what with the colour and everything. But if it isn't original like it appears not to be, then a first 500 car is a mish-mash, shame.

In the spirit of keeping you all updated, the car I am seriously looking at isn't in London, t'is more Norf, can't say much yet, except that it's not finished being restored (

) yet and it's an LHD RST.
