Re: my non-Porsche picture of the day
Neil claims it was for 'a friend' but he looked quite comfy in it.
The Realm was proper fun. Rolly and not especially fast but none of that matters as it's a just a lovely experience. Although you know it's not real it steel feels old and special.

Re: my non-Porsche picture of the day
I saw that car at FB in Bath when I was looking for one (and drove another one they had)...Glad it's sold locally - I'll look out for it on the Somerset levelsSam @ PS Autoart wrote: The Realm was proper fun. Surprised you felt it was rolly and not especially quick - setup maybe? Mine will easily keep up with my 2.7RS - though it's aluminium so a bit lighter...it's like riding a motorbike without a helmet and on cross-plys it's definitely a mind-focussing experience. Of course triple Webers would get me 320 bhp+ Now that would be a prospect!

And Steve...any time you are in the Bristol/Somerset area, you are welcome to come out in mineleft4dead wrote: It was the Don 'LAW' number plate that gave it away![]()
How did it handle? I've sat in the ex. Fangio C-type but Derek wouldn't let me out for a test drive. I think he thought I wasn't a serious enough customer![]()

Hi Jameshot66 wrote:ant, that looks superb . Is yours the same manuf. as above ?
No mine is an early race-prepped Jim Marland aluminium Proteus. Its an amazing driving experience...
And much like the 2.7RS world, there are levels of replica...all with their respective snobbery. It goes like this
Original cars
Lynx FIA cars...just like the real thing
Early Proteus...handcrafted aluminium body
Modern Proteus - super formed aluminium body (the modern method of manufacture) and modern xj running gear
GRP or GRP/aluminium mix cars from companies like Realm, Heritage, Nostalgia
Within that there are so many other combinations of running gear, all creating different degrees of accuracy to the original versus the need for modern usability. Engine and gearbox, torsion bar suspension, live rear axle, drum brakes, tyres, seatbelts, windscreen, single doors etc. it's a minefield!
Heaters are a definite no though! That's just bad form

Re: my non-Porsche picture of the day
Great cars - I built an all-aluminium Proteus back in the early '90's for a member of the Laura Ashley family.
