If it is the same car I read about a while back, I am pretty sure it is a GN with a V8 JAP engine in it...

Yes the engine is out of an airship, wooden chassis etc. All period.
i met the driver in portsmouth- she was driving it back to the midlands, and was nudged on a roundabout which put a split in the chassis:(
She is a senior tech on the new uk land speed record attempt too, btw.

so those paintings- Robert laduke?

It is a JAP powered GN Special - built by Richard Scaldwell, and usually driven sideways by him or his wife Annie - a great couple. The engine is 5.1L - more an early aircraft engine than an airship one though...

These three GN specials belong to a friend...
The Hornet - 2 V-Twin engines chained together for hill climbing (there are plans for it to have 4 engines). Sadly not road legal at the moment...but watch this space!
Image

GN Trials car - 4.7 litre Anzani V Twin (with optional orange fur for a night trial event in Holland)
Image

The GN Vitesse - 8.2 litre Curtiss V8. With the BEST numberplate - XL5

Incredibly powerful, beautifully balanced but it can bite back....

He is also rebuilding the 1911 Fiat S76 - The Beast of Turin - an early land speed record car
28 litre, 4 cylinder, 300 hp, 125mph
Should be finished next year...not been seen on the road since 1913
