Yes ageee. I had my car tested many times on track when it had the standard back box and it was always the same at 105db. A standard 'sports' exhaust will definately be louder and anything wilder will be really loud.
Ian.

am a bit miffed that my perfect fitting bonnet sits proud of the wings now its resting on new seals... am sure they will compress over time but if Tuthills had done the same as you I suspect it would fit better ...
Sorry to hijack the thread.
Genuine Porsche bonnet seats will lift any GRP bonnet out of line, after market seals will do so even more. We always use a different style of seal, which is softer and lower, to maintain the bonnet fit
What seals do you use for those Nick? I'd be interested for the carbon bonnet I bought from you

I hope the fruit means 'Burnt Orange', but as Gary says, oh for a Barry Shell.
I'm bracing myself for a shell re-visit/re-paint next year, 25 years after i re-built the shell.
The standard to match is a bit higher nowadays to 1988.
Champagne Yellow for mine (originally Viper Green)
Colour in July iirc?

My trip to Centre Gravity this week gave me the chance to call in on Raj and Kam at
Genius of the Lamp (
http://www.geniusofthelamp.co.uk/ ) and drop off the headlights I've been acquiring….
…as many on here will know, with their built in spotlights, the preferred choice of headlight for many racers in the early 70's was the Cibié Biode or Marchal Amplilux combined with SWB buckets and clear Hella headlight lenses…..the plan is to have two sets of headlights….I might go with an orange headlight ring with the Amplilx, chrome with Biodes and then decide which I like best….
…as you can see the Biodes need a fair degree of work….this shouldn't pose a problem for Genius of the Lamp who are one of the world's leading specialists in lamp restorations. These guys aren't just platers but full on professional restorers….most of their work is on pre-1940 lamps, they take stuff that looks like this….
….work their magic…..
…and create items that look like this….
….first introduced here when Mike Moore was restoring his RSR, they did a pretty good job of tidying up his headlights

….
So, a quick couple of questions for the headlight specialists here…
..I have two sets of Biode headlights, probably not matching….one headlight is missing the hole at the top which I assume is for a sidelight?…..when would the headlights have included this sidelight…..I need to decide whether to punch a matching hole or close the other up?..…
…also, one of the four lenses (all for RHD, left side traffic) is clear at the bottom left of the lens and is missing the lined pattern just below 'IODE' as shown here….
….would you have one lens each on a matching set or is this for another use?
I appreciate all feedback.
Cheers,

I only managed to find one car with Cibié Biodes at CLM; interestingly they had the small low voltage city/side/marker light at the top of the unit, as per the item on the right in the photo above, although don't recall Mike's items having these?……my guess is that these differed for various markets rather than being motorcycle units as suggested elsewhere?
As I have two sets I think I'll restore both ways and decide later which to use.

Another request for information........I believe the two switches highlighted below are universal Bosch 'off the shelf' items that were used for a number of applications.......anyone know where I can find some?
Many thanks,
