New from Porsche? Are they NOS or reproduction?
.....certainly not made in the 70's Ian but can a genuine Porsche part be reproduction?

On that note, always worth asking Porsche if a part is available. I'm often surprised at how much is still available and often less expensive than elsewhere.

I think it's termed OEM if from Porsche but not NOS. Manufacturing processes and even supplier may be different from period, hence the need to re-finish?

Well I have some pictures of my new, very old, wheels bought today…

Part number: 911.361.020.03
Date: 3-71
Size: 9J x 15
Sourced: from a ‘78 Targa abandoned in a field in the Lake District! Not sure the seller on eBay knew what he was dealing with given the price I managed to secure them for!

Miracles do happen if you keep praying - and looking - hard enough!

Just got to hope they pass the crack test and close scrutiny when we get them to Gus’ …(so still praying!)

Next target: similarly unrestored ‘71 - early ‘72 7s…

I ought to say that if anyone has a pair of unrestored ‘71/‘72 (up to March ‘72) 7s that they’re prepared to sell, please do let me know.

A quick update in case anyone was wondering - we are waiting for DVLA registration before we start pulling the car apart (albeit I have sold the 2.4T engine minus its CIS system to another of Angus’ customers who is converting his 914/4 to a 6 with carbs). We have sent all the required documents off including the NOVA which came through very quickly and a letter from PCGB I obtained earlier last year, but who knows how long that will take (I’ve read the thread about it on here already!).

So the parts haul continues (refurbished Koni dampers from inaglasshouse - thanks Richard!) and Sam, Angus’s engine builder is starting the engine build now (shuffling pinning the cases, new oil squirters etc) while we wait.

Angus and I were studying lots of small details on photos of the GeLo car yesterday and one thing that we noticed was that the small flag door mirror fitted to the factory-built S/Ts appears to have a longer support bracket than the standard one and wondered if anyone was aware of this and whether a different mirror was available from the Sports Department?

This picture of the factory car shows the same mirror but just folded in:

I do believe those parts boxes are labelled with the relevant section numbers from the PET?
Wish I'd thought of that...

Angus suggested the main PET part groups - being a bit of nerd I had to go further!…
