You're doing a good job on the car. Just wondering how you managed to straighten the rear lights, as one of mine is slightly bent and needs straightening.

Hi Stefan, I used a hammer and dolly to straighten the edges. One section was cracked but ended up completely broken off and I used a metal filler to repair. The metal of the lights is some kind of ‘pot metal’ and I found it malleable to shape. I didn’t really want to purchase a new pair of rear lights.

A while ago I had my brake calipers vapour blasted so they were fairly free of dirt, corrosion and paint. I managed to move things slightly forward with dismantling my calipers, cleaning them up (there was a little corrosion around the seals which cleaned up easily), preparing them and painting them with silver caliper paint. The colour is a little lighter than I would have liked but they do look quite good. I need to apply some more paint but need to leave the layers of paint already applied for a few days to cure.

I have cleaned up and repaired my Heater Control Boxes. Mostly needed cleaning but they has been 'repaired' in an interesting fashion where the connecting flanges were broken and repaired with silicon glue, fibreglass and all manner of loveliness. I have ordered new connecting flanges and some other hardware.
The Control Boxes look pretty good now.

Cleaning up the petrol tank sender - the metal cover ring at the top was a little corroded - I have cleaned up and will repaint. I will check the internals and post a picture. I did tidy the internals up a while ago and found that design fascinating.
I purchased these Under dash vents as my car only had one. These are from a slightly later car but they are out of view so I don't mind that they are a different design.
I haven't got that many more things to clean up or sort out now....

I forgot to show my 3D printed Rear Light reflector lens. One of my Rear Lights had a broken one and the other was missing - something to prevent the ugly hole showing when you don't have the side-marker light fitted.
I am really chuffed with how they turned out. I have fitted one and it works really well. It just needs short stand-offs and some M3 screws/washers. Photograph to follow for those interested.

Hi Gary, funnily enough my colleague that printed these for me actually printed 5 so I have 3 spare. I can easily send you 2 - I see you are in the UK in Cheshire?

If you PM me your address (my email is neil dot nasralla at xtra dot co dot nz) I can send 2 to you. Please bear in mind you need to use some stand-offs as shown in the picture and (I think) M3 screws to mount the stand-offs to the light enclosure and the lens to the stand-offs. As printed there are (small mounting holes) but you need to run a 3mm drill through. All very easy though...

Not much progress made but I did finish my Petrol Tank Sender refurbishment. I had to substitute the plastic prongs and added some plastic M3 nuts to the body flush-mounted by drilling out the body to accommodate them. This was so that I could use M3 bolts to attach the metal ring which I painted black. It isn't exactly 'factory' but I couldn't see a way to refurb without just gluing blobs of plastic to hold the metal ring.

Hi all, I have made some progress with refurbishing my Front light (indicator/sidelight) units. I visited my car where the bodywork is being undertaken and fetched the last items that I can get hold of to fettle. They were in an average state but not awful unlike the rear lights. I had decided to get new lenses all round.

The rear light lenses were a mismatch of a nice quality lens that had a couple of slight issues but was cracked in half and glued back together. It was almost OK. The other lens was a peculiar affair that was clear plastic but had orange and red paint providing the brake and indicator colours. It had never looked good and also had a matching repaired crack.

I just decided that these had to go and the front lenses should also be changed. It turns out they aren't as bad as the rears - nice to have some decent spares then
