Finally finnished, minus a few electric gremlins that we have to sort out.Made the 220 mile round trip to Silverstone yesterday for Porsches 40th Trans axle bash.
very pleased with the response.Plenty of dropped jaws, as I dont think a 924 has been displayed after a full resto, apart from the ones carried out by the OPC,in the Porsche competition.I know I did this rebuild. However, it wasnt only me who thought the level of detail,(especially under the bonnet) surpassed what Porsche did themselves.(Had a mild disagreement with the Porsche body guy, about his resto, but thats another story)
Spec is:
Porsche 924 Turbo,series One.Registered 1980.4 previous owners, Alpine white/Pasha trim.45,000 miles.(correct)
Totally standard, apart from Bilstein shocks as per CGT.944 rear wing, Wing antenna delete(now under headlining)bump strip delete, Period Bluespot,Rear wiper delete,
Polybushed suspension,Vibratec racing engine mounts, adjustable rear links,Elephant racing, bushes, short shift comp gearchange, ceramic coating on turbo and exhaust manifold.Zircotec heat shielding, solid rear mounts.6/7 inch Fuchs Toyo 666 rubber.Klien front springs(30mm drop)Acess holes in sills, and threaded torsion bars ,for easy rear height adjustment.Probably other bits I cant remember!
All mods are an improvement over original spec, without changing the essence of the original design.(thats sounds poncy,I know!)
She pulls like a train. At 80 miles an hour, jab the pedal to 3000 revs, and it just wants to go.(Obviously thats just an estimation  )
I was concerned the supspension mods, might have been too much for day to day road work.I neednt had been.Stiff, yet compliant, about the same as my old 996.
If anyone fancies one, Let me k now.Ill need a donor car and more money than youd believe! I just totalled my final spend!!
