Silver might be 'nice'.....

But silver with stripes can be very nice.

Arctic Silver, of course. Get the interior changed to grey ruffled leather...then add a 996 body kit. Job done! It'll feel right at home at an OPC!

Just paint it any colour you like – except the one I'm having on my car, OK. Not telling you what it is, but you'll get a visit from my lawyers if you paint it Leaf Green...

My favourite* is Aubergine^ not the fruit mind, horrid thing, just the colour.

I used to have a silver 911 that was originally Sepia and if I'd have kept it would have changed it back.

Re Bootsy's silver 911 I came close to buying it (I assume he only had the one CIS 2.2??) and yes it was nice, however for me, the colour was the one item that was really putting me off as it wasn't 'different' enough for me. Eventually I didn't buy anything, stuck with my 993, still regret not buying Bootsy's even in silver! but when I do buy I want it to stand out, Viper Green, Blood Orange, Chartreuse........ NOT silver.

It was a 2.4 But yes that's the one I was referring to.

Originally Sepia which is one of my favourite 911 colours - much to do with my first 911 being Sepia (now Ron Vincents)

Maybe I do I have imagination issues. My Boxster is Arctic Silver (weren't they all?) and my wife's Mitsu is Silver

Before I make a decision on Monday, there are 2 other colours I like. Could some one please identify these colours? Cheers

First is Fjord Green, the second Aquamarine Metallic

Gemini blue metallic is a correct 911 colour not far off the 2nd one you posted

I think the colour of an older car, especially when it is something like a 911, is so much part of it's character. These colours are super rare as they are very much colours of the 70's. In the 80's the cars in these colours were the ones that were sold cheap, sprayed guards red or made into white rs replicas. I was not 100% sure about my aubergine car when I bought it, butI absolutely love the colour now. I have never met someone who doesn't love the colour. I am sure if you kept your car olive you would grow to love it more over time than you would if you sprayed it, say silver or blue.

Hi Patrick: I've owned it since 2003!! How much more time should I give it! Am envious of the reception your car gets. The last time I drove my car (March or April during that last sunny spell we had) I drove to the yard where my wife keeps her horse. I'm used to the laughs and the "Yuck's", but when one woman bought a shovel of horse poo to compare - that was the last straw (damn good match actually!). I no longer speak to that woman - but that was a Saturday, and by the Sunday I had stripped the rear bumpers, lights and number plate panel...

I'm having withdrawal symptoms due to no new photos since Wednesday. But here is the number plate panel - the only welding needed on the car: 2 holes where the US number plate holder was screwed in:

You were certainly right in your OP that colour choice does get the discussion going! Sounds like you've really made your mind up to change, which is fair enough and as you say, living with Olive for nearly 10 years means it's an informed judgement!

As has been said, Chartreuse is also one of the Marmite "safety" colours (only 23 RS were ordered) but my own experience is that while different light does affect how it appears (or how good the photographer is) what really made a huge difference was some TLC with plenty of Zymol... all of a sudden the colour really "popped" in all light conditions. Maybe with fresh paint, Olive will do the same?

Progress looks good on the car and will be great to see it back together, whatever colour you choose!

As ever, Uncle Keith is spot on and I know that's definitely Aquamarine Metallic cos I came oh so very close to buying that actual car. Wish I had!

Didn't realise you'd owned the car that long My favourite colours are the non metallic factory colours like pale yellow, blood orange and you guessed it, aubergine
