It's not very fair to compare me to your dad Jonathan. I am just a young fella as you know ( the grey hair is premature I assure you) trying to tell the story as quick as I can but a full on working day today for me till 5 then driving to Lancashire so I hope you have patience
Regards
Mike
Mike If your driving down to Lancashire anyway can you pop over to mine tonight , make me a hot chocolate , tuck me in and read me the rest of the story in person . See you about 11.30 .
Thanks.

What's most amazed me so far is how you've managed to keep this all to yourselves and under wraps since October. I would have shot my (metaphorical) load before bonfire night and would have probably insisted on a six page, picture heavy feature in Keith's mag!
Keep it coming, please.

So, we got to the shed. I did notice the engine had a green shroud and some odd looking throttle bodies (different to any of mine anyway). We took a picture or two and here they are.

I'm just hoping by the end if the day we will know what it is and have seen the pics of it fully restored.

Bootsy, this is your forum – just pull the thread. Clearly the car doesn't really exist. We're all being strung along here and you wait – the thread's all being carefully planned to come to its conclusion on 1st April.
But in the meantime, more, more!!!

We took ages to clean up the engine numbers and they still aren't that clear. There was a lot of grime on there.
When the number became apparent Brendan and I glanced at each other.

So I was right

A 1969MY 119xxxxxx numbered 2.0ltr 911E manufactured 1968!
Ok, so it might be the FIRST 1969MY 119xxxxxx numbered 2.0ltr 911E manufactured 1968 made
I'm guessing the chassis number has to be something like 11920000x

Does this not make it the first 911E? Did they make them before the '69 model year?

Maybe. The engine and chassis number don't necessarily match, but if the VIN is 0001 then I think you could surmise that it's the first 911E built. Only the factory build records could confirm it. Great story.....

Don't the 1969 E engine numbers start 6298*** and not 6290***?

Darren - an engine no starting with 6298 would be one attached to a Sportomatic transmission.
