What's most amazed me so far is how you've managed to keep this all to yourselves and under wraps since October. I would have shot my (metaphorical) load before bonfire night and would have probably insisted on a six page, picture heavy feature in Keith's mag!

So, we got to the shed. I did notice the engine had a green shroud and some odd looking throttle bodies (different to any of mine anyway). We took a picture or two and here they are. 

Are you back from gearboxshire yet? Can't bloody sleep before reading the next installment!!!!

Lovely story, chaps. I can only start to imagine how you two discussed how to unveil it/ drip feed us Ddk-ers.

We took ages to clean up the engine numbers and they still aren't that clear. There was a lot of grime on there.
When the number became apparent Brendan and I glanced at each other.

So I was right A 1969MY 119xxxxxx numbered 2.0ltr 911E manufactured 1968!

I'm guessing the chassis number has to be something like 11920000x

Maybe. The engine and chassis number don't necessarily match, but if the VIN is 0001 then I think you could surmise that it's the first 911E built. Only the factory build records could confirm it. Great story.....

Don't the 1969 E engine numbers start 6298*** and not 6290***?

Darren - an engine no starting with 6298 would be one attached to a Sportomatic transmission.
