I totally get you! But I do know historic folks who will take an engine that's been run in & tuned on the engine dyno and then rolling road it in the car for final set up. If I had the cash, a car special enough and the right people to hand then I would do that too. Rarefied is the right word for it!

Here's a video clip from one of the recent dyno tests, this time megaphones on a 993 engine.

That was with the camera and microphone in the control room behind the double glazed
soundproofing glass, now we have it mounted in the actual cell and next we're trying picture
in picture recording to get the important readings displaying as it runs.
