well what can I say ... ? ..... except what a fantastic 'long' weekend
For myself & a few other DDk'ers from oop north it all started on Tuesday afternoon / evening where we all met up in Cambridgshire @ fellow DDK murph2309 's house . Richard & his family had very kindly agreed to let us stay over en-route to the ferry

After an evening of wine + homemade spag boll we departed for the ferry & our 1st overnight stop in Rouen

Another night of wine, food & football followed as we all prepared for a cross country blast to LeMans
In what we realised was to become the 'norm' for all the driving, we managed to get split into small groups within 5 mins of leaving Rouen, so myself, Vicki & Gary had a fantastic cross country blat @ higher average speeds than the Peage , following some of the usual high standard of French roads. We stumbled across our new favorite lunch spot & waited for our groups to meet up

it was toooooo hot

Eventually we all met up again & followed another great route down to LeMans

So, rest of the weekend has been covered by all others ..... but as usual it was made great due to the great mix of DDKer's
Anyway, we all set off Sunday & headed back to Rouen for a nice clean shower & more food & wine
Monday morning , early start to head to Calais ..... 10 mins up the road, just coming out of the Rouen tunnel, gentle acceleration in 3 rd at about 3500 rpm & I felt & heard a little 'pop'
...... car started runing on approx 4 cylinders + plumb of oil smoke ...... coaxed the car to a layby to be confronted with oil pissing out of the right bank between the barrels & the head. Not quite sure what's failed, could be a rocker has slipped or maybe a head stud snapped or pulled ...... time will tell, although I did mention I could do with some more power
.
So my trip home consisted of a Porsche, a wagon, a taxi, a hire car, a ferry, a taxi & finally a hire van !!
No idea when the 2.4S is coming home, but they recon 10 - 14 days
Anyway I can REALLY RECOMMEND Footman James & their euro recovery service ..... they have been superb so far & got me & Simon home very quickly.

Thanks to all who texted me on Monday too
It was appreciated
more photo's to come
