Just what I thought should we want to try other cars to get a feel for the subtleties between the various models and / or tweaks / settings we have applied to our various cars.

I just gave Hagerty a call out of curiousity, since my renewal is due at the end of August.

Spoke to Phil (who knew enough about cars that he could tell me a '72 911 has an oil filler cap on the side). Very friendly.

Quote criteria as follows: 24 years old with no convictions and 6 years NCB. 5000 miles/year, £150 excess. Didn't ask about daily-use car, access to other cars or any of that irrelevant stuff that insurers always seem so interested in.

£305.55!

That's excellent - £200 cheaper than my current insurer. I'm in love.

Track cover is an extra £32 a go.

They're fine with slight modifications, that the car is kept in a garage a few miles from my home, and giving the a few more horses with the EFI kit doesn't change the premium. I like the car-enthusiast attitude, and the simplicity, the lack of option menus. When it's time for renewal, I'm in.

So glad you have all discovered Hagerty on here too! Somebody mentioned them on our Cobra forum months ago, and I switched over after they halved my renewal premium! More miles p.a. and 5k more on the value than previous insurer too. Lots of the boys are swapping over.

Their attitude is that they know its your pride and joy, you're not going to rag it, and its in a garage, and its your second car? Quite low risk in other words. Underwritten by Allianz who are massive. They agree on a value as long as you email pics of the car and garage.

Darren is a pleasure to deal with, and that is who I will be insuring the new toy with in a couple of weeks!

Just spent about 45 mins on the phone talking to Phil there....they know their classic sports cars like no-one else...had a right good natter about all sorts...

BUT


and its a big BUT.

Just moved a number of cars over to them, values over 100k and added them to my existing policy.

Total additional cost......


£270!!!!!

It's just gob smacking.....oh and they do track cover as well for a stupidly low amount...10% of your premium....so £20 for my 964RS!!!

If you are not ringing them you have too much money to waste [/b]

I am with them, and while its all well and good when taking your money, the above is exactly what i have wondered.

I`m with Carol Nash and have had a huge problem sorting out agreed value with them. They`ve skirted round the `problem` for 6 months.

How easily, quickly, are Hagerty dealing with the agreed value issue?

it was really easy on both my cars.

6 photo's through email of the outside from different angles.

they then send a mail saying thanks and agreed. First car took about 10 days from my email and the 2nd car took about 30 mins.

Cant recco them enough, at the end of the day the policy is underwritten by Allianz who are heeeuge and not some dodgy little tin pot insurer.

After 6 months of messing about loosing paperwork etc, Carol Nash demanded current adverts for identical cars to mine

Fortunately Maxted Page had an ad in the press for a similar car but with no price.

C N then asked me to ask Mr. Maxted Page for a one off copy of the ad showing the price

Then they wanted to speak to Auto farm and any other specialists I could think of.

In the end I called the under writers directly eventually spoke to the man who makes the decisions..... he sorted it in 10 minutes

Carol Nash told me off for ringing the under writers.

Then all I had to do was wait a month for the paper work !

The policy is with Allianz....who are same as A.Manning. As already said an enormous insurer (although probably 90% smaller after last months fun on the markets) and having had to claim with Allianz before I couldn't recommend them highly enough...they were fantastic.

Currently with A.Manning and insurance up in November. Happy with them, and they provide track day cover included in the policy.

However, I assume Haggerty are happy to insure your RSR so my slightly updated 911T should be a doddle - BUT my car is not garaged, which seems a 'No No' for getting insurance at many places.

Any idea if Haggerty have an issue with no garage - any insured on here with no garage ?
