Never-give-Up = persistence? I had that drummed into me from an early age when I wore short trousers...60 years ago...and my best model aeroplane had done a spectacular nose dive and was 12" shorter...

Been a hard slog as I knew it was something stupid that I had done, but never thought of the condenser.
It was Cortina saying I should go right back to basics last week that made me think harder, and a chance conversation with the boss at Villiers Services rang a bell with him.
He had a good customer who changed everything consumable on his Greeves inc the condenser and the bike was rubbish running, all the same issues I had.

The day before I looked on google about 2 stroke condensers and noted somebody describing the same issues, solved by the condenser change, hence going back to V Services for a new one.

The Greeves man had a duff Condenser, changed it for another, and the bike was off to the scrambles.
Sometimes the planets align and things are good. :)

Yes, I will ride the bike when it's dry.
The gears are shifted by a suicide lever on the right side of the tank, the bike has a lot of pre-war quirks.

Thank you Ashley, but it is not worth much. Cost me about £3500 or more, lost count, value? About £1750/2000
Most people have never heard of Terrot, France's largest motorcycle manufacturer.
Thus, I think I may well have to advertise it as a Bantam Alternative!

Have the next project in the shed, just not so turned-on by it.
Thinking of going electric with it.

Nearly put a bid on a 1928 Terrot 175 on ebay, but thought better of it and it went for £1600, but a few too many parts missing. A 1950 bike is hard enough let alone a 1928..

Also spotted a 100cc Villiers engine Sun, 1954 with girder forks etc, lovely British light weight, but too similar to the MT1 I have.
So, got all the engine in, carb tweeked, lighting re-connected and a few other snags that needed doing and the Terrot MT1 is actually all done.

The carb top was badly stripped and the carb body was not much better, so found a new one in France for 9 Euro. Fitted great, but the threads on the body are too damaged for the top to stay in place, so forced to make a clamp bracket to hold it all together.

Yes, it all works, stupid mistake made by me ages ago = misery for months...

All back in the bike now but not re-started it until all was done.

Found my old hill climb helmet, wont risk my Bell!
Need to fill the gearbox/clutch with oil but it leaks (NO gearbox seals by design!), the roads are wet, cannot possibly get it dirty....

Ummm, can't think of any more excuses.
With a dry day will try to get the wife to video it on my camera and youtube it.
Last time I did that it took years to upload, so not too enthusiastic.

I rode it with the 50cc 4 stroke in, rides very stable and has really good brakes!

I'd like to see a little rubber sleeve over that throttle cable "holding" it in place to the adjusting sleeve
a) keeps the crud out , but
b) stops the cable drifting up , catching on the edge , and the rest you can guess ............... hmm.

Yep, take your points.
The cables are new 'get you home' cables and are very long.
They are all wound up to tidy the excess for the time being until I am sure the lot works and then solder much closer to the termination points and cut the excess off.
Heat shrink applied to tidy up.

Doubt I will have it long enough to see them rust!
(Maybe...)

Just realised I mis-read your thought. The cable outer to the carb needs a tie wrap to ensure the cable outer is truly perpendicular to stop chaffing, and a rubber sleeve to stop road grit building up is a good idea.

FWIW there’s an MZ 125 on FB market place for £250. They were an extremely good and durable two stroke and they have a following even now.

Thanks Ashley, I've looked at a 100 or more 'next project' recently, bet I've seen it!
I have however found 2 French bikes, one 1938 and the other a 1949.
Chasing them ATM, hoping to part x the Peugeot!

Fingers and more are crossed. :)
