The throttle link shaft sockets were worn so that’s 16 of those replaced.
The throttle bodies were bored out, fitted with new 40mm plates and the plastic stacks blended to suit.

I decided to rebuild the MFI pump myself.
They’re real easy and a screwdriver is all you need.

If I was doing it again I’d not do it on the kitchen table because my wife got upset with the mess and it may even have been her that lost some of the parts.

Anyway I don’t think all the springs and washers are vital.
The fuel leaks should stop once it’s in use, it’s just a bit worrying that it appears seized, I’m sure it used to spin freely before I took it apart.

I probably should have taken photos before I disassembled it….

Like it, taking on the black art of mfi fuel pumps. Who you going to use to set up the pump once installed?

Sorry Mark, I'm teasing. I didn’t undertake the pump rebuild myself. No way.
They’re a nightmare of complexity and I ain’t going nowhere near it.

I believe Redtek used Tower to recondition my pump.
There’s not many guys left standing that built them back in the day so you need a specialist who knows what they are doing.
And Tower most certainly do.

They would rebuild the MFI pump with correct phasing and accurate calibration of fuelling.
They’d unstick pistons, verify space cams, replace fresh seals, etc, etc.
I assume it was comprehensively rebuilt because I paid a sizeable wedge of money for the work but I confess I don’t know precisely what that involved, nor do I have any pictures of the sequence of events.
Suffice to say it was dusty before and shiney afterwards.
And came back with free blobs of yellow paint on the screws.

Can't believe you fell for the no photos, yellow blobs and shiney outside refurb scam .....

I understand that some folk are already drumming their fingers on the desk and saying "come on enough of the engine pics, let's see the car".
Well, nearly there now.

I'm chuffed.

All now factory fresh. Even the starter motor got refurbished.

Nice milestone - box ticked, few more to go !
