I promise a far better video clip and sound quality when I've finished my list of "little jobs" and can get it outside for a bit of diagniostics and tinkering. Hopefully the garage smoke detectors won't drown out the megaphones .....

OK a little update, font pads skimmed no more binding......., new battery a little thing like an Odyssey 680 but much.. much.... much.... much cheaper, and a reinforced clutch pedal . I will post some snaps but that clutch is a real headache.

Its a 915 with a standard but hd clutch cover .

I have about 20mm free at the pedal before it takes up the pull against the diaphragm, I now have a fixed stop at the pedal but no return spring although fitting one would be no problem if I need it. I have the same length pedal as stock and am using the same length arm on the fitting in the tunnel so all the ratios are standard. I am pulling a standard cable connected to a standard unassisted arm, on a standard pivot to the standard hd pull type diaphragm. The diaphragm is the only "spring" in the system. I know the thrust release is properly located on its actuator

Having no idea how the pedal feels standard may be the issue and nothing is wrong It just feels so "dead". Any opinion here that may help set my mind at rest...I would really like to know how much cable pull is normal at the gearbox to be confident in getting the clutch to disengage .

Another week and I should be ready for an mot as long as I can sort the missing cylinder and a few other teething faults.

Nice one Andy, is your cover the one that comes with a huge bellville washer to keep the tension on the diaphram in the cover? (RSR type?).

20mm free play is right, and 25mm total movement is needed after that to assure the clutch clears.

The 3.2 type arms with the omega spring is a very light action in comparison to the early system.
When I had an RSR cover it was mega heavy in traffic.

Yep, thats the one, massively heavy but no probs getting up to third going up the hill by my house... probably a different story...driving through Poole though.

I have to admit my wife actually shed a tear as it went up the road, probably at the thought of having to spend more time with me....I told her not to worry and that I'd be off at car do's all summer......didn't go down quite how I hoped apparently she actually quite likes my company

Just got to sort a reluctant cylinder, fix the rear anti roll bar mounts that I broke when I dropped the shell in about 1987 have some minor bits of shutz and paint redone underneath and get it aligned / checked before an MOT.

Might get it to CLM next year ....with luck.

Had a great day today with Tim at Marque 21 a Porsche Specialist in Bridport ( some other very nice machinery there too), he got all the wheels pointing in the right directions. Obviously a top man, hugely experienced, patient calm and very methodical. Just wanted to name check him and his business as a very happy customer.

I think we both decided that my car on "phones" is TOOO LOOUUD though.....

A DIY solution to air leaks on CIS heads and old magnesium manifolds involving old CIS runners, a hacksaw some welding , some turning, some s/h PMO inlets , some port matching and some longer inlet studs


Another DIY solution to exhausts so noisy they make your ears bleed and set off other car alarms with vibration
This involves some mega phones a new Dansk exhaust , a slitting disc and grinder and some mig welding.




Still need to make the end caps

Hopefully finishing these few jobs will see it ready to MoT and get on a rolling road.
