Re: 356 Race Car
Steve, you were checking the practice lap rather than best race lap.Car had problem in practice.
It does run out of brakes.
Pre A did 2 42.8 in actual race so the lads have to find 2.8 secs.
Improbable but you never know!

Of course
Must have made an impression as a bloke wanted to buy the car for racing and tours.
Didn't have a decent Talbot to exchange or a T2 Speedster!

Re: 356 Race Car
So Pre A did a 43 in race, won drum brake class, second in capacity class behind 2 litre Morgan.
Not bad with a few big engined car behind.

Re: 356 Race Car
The B 2 G T needs to be race prepared as its a road car so if suspension done and sorted it would be quicker than Pre A.There is nearly 100 kilo difference in weight.
The Pre A's are much more sorted as you can do many more series with them.

Re: 356 Race Car
Is this the pre A you are talking about?
17 44 B Burnett Porsche 356 Pre A Coupe 48:07.001 17 1 LAP 77.04
The categories are pretty confusing to a laymen. Why not race in the "RAC Woodcote Trophy for Pre'56 Sports Cars"?

Re: 356 Race Car
Why race in Woodcote?
Driving standards in Woodcote are iffy although we were clobbered by an Elite were his speed exceeded his ability
It works so much better in Pre63.
At effectively 1 grand a car it is also expensive!
Had three cars in Pre 63. That's enough!
Not sure what all those fighters are in last post?
Next round at Spa and we will see speeds there.
B G T may be quicker!

Re: 356 Race Car
Is that at the Ring? I haven't been around it but we stopped on the way back from Stuttgart and it looks like a challenging course for a car with drum brakes and a smaller engine?
