Re: 75 S to R Homage
Oil cooler install completed, New ends for salvaged oil lines made and silver soldered on ( the longer one makes up length where the line was damaged beyond saving), Oil pipes all cut and ready for crimping ( I've had a wheel on and checked clearance all looks ok with my narrow 6's) .

Cranked 3 times and fired.....

Sorry about the quality but somehow it conveys my exitment
Must have made a mistake wiring the alternator judging by the smoke
It set the garage smoke alarms off too.Hope that's not too hard a fix, need to set up timing properly it starts too easily and gets pretty hot on the header fast .
Hope it'll all be fine from here.
Glass of Morgans to celebrate

Well done indeed Andy.
Did you have colour in your hair when you started this project?

Re: 75 S to R Homage
I was thinking that this car has been mine for 10 years , and not run. Yes I did have hair colour when I started
I talked my car mad apprentice master into buying it in 1985 after finding it parked at Woolbridge Manor Hotel ( as was) looking very tired. He used it daily for a number of years, doing a top end rebuild at one point that made extensive use of our employers mechanical facilities
, before moving to Cumbria and parking it in a garage with fueling problems in about 1998.
I bought it sight unseen for £5k and drove up to trailer it home , fix a few faults and play. Then I discovered the internet and the rust
It was nearly an RS rep...nearly an ST but I saw a snap of Migg's R style car and had to go with that.
Its nearly full circle now since my apprentice master and friend is now working with me again in Dorset , he is still car mad and has a very worn but ripe for restoration 62 cooper s with a 1480 motor on split webers...
Finding DDK was a milestone since I'd been working without any points of reference to speak of ( why on earth did I mould those wings it would have been so easy to buy them) so I'm grateful for all the help I've got from this forum and in particular some specific individuals who know who they are
Any way enough of this drivel its not finished yet.......got to connect a throttle, replace the clutch pedal, get the wheels aligned, skim a bit off the front brake pads, buy some tyres and a battery........mot.... could be another 5 years yet...
