Lots of work ongoing, I keep forgetting to take photos. But I popped up tonight and grabbed an image of the body in primer
Fingers crossed for top coat by end of month.......

Yeah, that's my problem a lot of the time too. I often finish something and then think 'bugger, didn't take any progress shots!'LMR wrote:Lots of work ongoing, I keep forgetting to take photos
Coming along well, keep up the good work.

A few minor but satisfying jobs this weekend.
First, I took the locks out of the door handles, cleaned the parts, and as I didn't have a key that fitted the locks, I re-keyed them
and reassembled
And I fitted a new door cam actuator

I also started working on the relay board. The coating underneath looked a little ropey
So I have stripped it back to check the connections
The bodywork is progressing as well, I cannot wait for it to be finished

I have a couple of wiring questions. Well I have a couple of questions now, they may expand as I go through the loom.......
So, question 1. The rubber relay boots (photo below). Are the wires and connectors bonded in place? I have a couple of these with damage, and I am guessing one cannot replace them?
My seat belt buckles are wired. Is this only for the seat belt fasten light on the dashboard, or does the seatbelt need to be in place before the ignition will allow the engine to run (I think I read somewhere that certain models have that requirement)?

1. Connectors can be replaced, but requires surgery and Very fiddly. Possibly better to look for a new relay plug (good used) and splice in.LMR wrote:I have a couple of wiring questions. Well I have a couple of questions now, they may expand as I go through the loom.......

2. Seat belt clips isolate ignition/starter motor solenoid circuit so can't start without belt clipped in and occupancy sensor in seat/s made. Easy fix is to link the two large Yellow wires at the relay under passenger seat (bypassing the relay altogether) and you don't need seat occupancy or belt switches to make the relay then

Looking great Phil and like the choice of wheels. Will you be there next Saturday? I may be over that way next sat to see next door about a service on the Boxster
