A view often aired, not that i share, abt Freissinger 'type ' restos that they are not just too perfect but have been built from a couple of bits of rusty tub and are nt really original enough...........................??????????

T+S is very kind and considering that anything I want to do must be de facto foolish and rash. It's not that she doesn't understand cars....it's that she doesn't understand 'old' cars.

I visited Freisingers 3 years ago and indeed saw some bits of rusty tubs
( 356s ) that were awaiting restoration.....I was amazed that they were
salvageable.

356 rust seems to be a whole industry, i use Sportwagen who i truly believe builds fantastic 356 s ..................whenever u see one u WILL know !

He saw my 2.4 s when i bought it and i have a DVD of all the cutting and welding................other than sills and kidney bowels and 1 rear wing all is as it was born 'ish.............nevertheless it all looks very dramatic while its going on .................i would contend on [at the time a 33 year old car] these were bascis common sense things to do and its pretty original ...............i ve seen them with A posts , rear seat wells, let alone floors , all rusted right thru to BIG holes ....................sadly when money dictates they re 'worth ' saving u do the best job u can i guess?

Wonder how mine will look in say another 5 years ? Proof of pudding ? Its used almost daily , try and miss salt 2 /3 track days a year ..............
