Re: Photobucket account 3rd party linking help
OK....for the benefit of the forum I have sent a to the point into Photobucket support....Don't know if it will do any good, but at least I am making them aware of the views as I am sure this discussion is going on on other special interest forums...
A copy of the email
Dear Photobucket,
I am very disappointed with the update to your terms and conditions that mean that you have cut off my photos being viewed from a specialist interest forum DDK.
I am not against paying for services and if your fees for 3rd party hosting were proportional to the service that you provide and most people require then I would happily pay for them, but I am talking in the region of $2.50 a month not the $40 a month that you are asking. There is already feeling within our specialist interest community that you will drive most of the community to other suppliers.
Have a look at the forum comments and maybe think again on your business Strategy as I really think you are about to commit commercial suicide as people will just move their photos to another provider that are not fielding draconian charges.

You probably have less than a week before you alienate loyal Photobucket users so think fast and make the right decision for your business else its not going to be there much longer

Re: Photobucket account 3rd party linking help
Flickr works well for me from Mac and PC. But I'm told generating links for sites like DDK is not easy / possible from a tablet / phone (basics like viewing and auto upload seem good on phone too).

Re: Photobucket account 3rd party linking help
I've regularly used my tablet to post pictures on DDK (from Flickr).

Re: Photobucket account 3rd party linking help
Just found my Photobucket account completely blocked.
I'm not even getting the $40/month option other seem to have been sent. If I try to log into Photobucket directly the only screen I can access is a payment screen for $399.99 per annum.
No payee, no hostie.
What a bunch of robbers. Well they can
off
It is really sad that it appear so many great posts over the last 10 years have been messed up.
So is FlickR the next best option ?

Re: Photobucket account 3rd party linking help
Photobucket has been hosting billions of pics free for everyone for decades. There was always going to come a time when the business stopped being viable and obsolete and would have to charge to try to survive before inevitabley failing. I guess that time is now. Can't really complain at them, forums all round the world have been using them as the free alternative so not to have to pay for hosting pics themselves.
On here I use Tapatalk on my phone as it's 1000x easier and they host pics also.
You can also copy the links from Facebook if you post pics there first.
The next generation don't use the likes of photobucket or forums....they are the slow dinosaurs of social media. They use the likes of snapchat where the pic lasts 10 seconds and is gone forever. They've seen it and don't need to see it again and move on. The future is a different world....

Re: Photobucket account 3rd party linking help
^^ seems to be a reasonable and true statement.
I have used Tinypic ever since posting pics ever, all free, and has only stuttered 4 times, all recently.
Have not tried it since this mess with Photobucket as on holiday with a tablet.
Hope Tiny has not gone the same way.
Other forums are suffering too.
Thinking about it, I rarely go back to a thread and read from the start, so do as the Youth do already, read, see and wait for the next instalment. The present is history.
Bet most do the same on here?

Re: Photobucket account 3rd party linking help
I think build & restoration threads do have a need to preserve history, as its part of the cars journey. Agree general stuff read and move on.
Uploaded all my pics to Dropbox last night, just cant work out how to host on here anyone know how?

Re: Photobucket account 3rd party linking help
I'd imagine photobucket will disappear in he not too distant future so sort your alternatives out and don't use them anymore

Re: Photobucket account 3rd party linking help
Just downloaded my library from photobucket which still works for me.
I signed up for the no adverts option some time ago.
Tapatalk is dead easy as an alternative although I have only done it from my phone.
