Excellent; did you corner weight the car or simply set the angle of the rear spring plates/front wishbones to equal angles?

Long time since I've seen those rubbing strips on an early car!

No corner weighing for me

Lowered the rear one outer spline each side.

Then lowered front to match roughly

Then 4 wheel alignment. Got the toe in spot on front and rear (also raised steering rack a touch with shims). Rear camber was as close to factory spec as I could get it. Same for front.
Made a big difference to the drive.

As for rubbing strips - do you mean the ones on the sill?
If so - no way would I remove them. Love them!

so - yesterdays job was to make some new door panels with leather door pulls.

got the leather straps and door panel "blanks" from fennlane.

Then a bit fo fiddling about to get the door lock mechs out to fit leather straps (door frames off was easiest way for me) - bit of glue and basket weave material - then bob's yer uncle .........

well chuffed for a first attempt.

Hi Charlie,

I really like your leather door pulls which is a great idea. Do you happen to have any more photos of how you got those to work and attach to the door mechanism? What grommit did you use for the leather to pass through the door card?

Hi

No other pics. Sorry

The grommet I got a while ago off eBay Germany

As for how they hook up - you remove the rod that attaches the current release button to the standard door lock mech
Tap out the pin that's on the door lock mech (that the rod connects to)
Rivet the leather strap onto the hole that you are left with. Or attach with but bolt etc....
Cut a hole in door for leather strap to pass through.
Then the rest is self explanatory

To do all the messing with the door lock mechanism it was easiest to remove the entire door window frame and then take lock mechanism out of the door completely.
Probably quicker to do all that than faffing around with fiddly little jobs inside the rather confined space of the door.

Sounds easy when you say it that quick

sladey - this was the eBay seller

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/m.html?ssPage ... arts&rt=nc

but I've had a look and he hasn't got them listed at the moment

when I bought they were listed as

Bushings- Set for Leather Belt Door Trim Porsche 911 2,7 RS

£10 for a pair plus post

worth dropping him a message I guess.

they were just 2 pieces - that interlock - one from either side of door panel, then you just bend the tabs round to hold them together.
Easy enough to make same kind of thing yourself really but for a tenner it was just easier. 8)

just for fun - fitted some R tail lights - supplied by the lovely chaps at Fennlane

these guys never cease to amaze me with what products they make - quick phone call - ask them who they'd recommend to supply such and such a thing -then the usual reply is - "Oh yes, we make those" lol
Top blokes!
