Progress slowed a little this weekend, Lake District with my son Friday/Saturday followed by 83 mile bike ride Sunday morning (training for National 3 peaks challenge and cycling between them next month...) so only a few hours Sunday...

Cleared out the engine bay and started to negociate the wiring loom removal, started but as tired I stopped before something/one got hurt as so tight with block connectors. Any suggestions welcome....

Looking around found some more problem areas around rear of passenger door frame.....

and front of drivers door frame wher it looks like sunroof drainage pipes leaking same as rear....

Busy week again this week at work but hoping to make some progress with the wiring loom at weekend then just dashboard out. Was planning on leaving wheels on for as long as poss to move car outside to use heat to burn off as much underseal as poss.....

Hi, nice progress.

My tip with the wiring loom is taking your time, particularly when the wires pass through/under the rear bulkhead as space is at a premium. Porsche in their wisdom made the space really tight! Don't be tempted to cut any wires either as it will cause unreliability later. We used lots of labels when we removed the loom from the 912 so we know exactly when we have later for the "smoke" test.

As I said, take your time and enjoy it

Hi Adam,

Just away at the moment but could pop round after the Scotland trip to assist.

If it's the light cluster loom connector you are trying to remove from the inner rear wing try heating the rubber with a hot air gun. Make sure you don't get them too hot. They will pop out really easy once warm.

If it's the main loom your trying to remove remember it comes out from the front to the back ie you disconnect every think from under the dash pull it through the bulkhead into the footwell area then back through the tunnel to the rear bulkhead. From there you pull it over the torsion tube and finally through the rear cross member into the engine bay then it's out.

Kind regards.

U still might need some assistance getting it out - someone to help feed it through the transmission tunnel as you try and get it over the torsion tube.

Last thing Matt, I bought some wiring labels from Maplins at weekend ready. What's best way to ensure they don't slide off? Clean wires with white spirit first I guess? Paranoid when I pull through tricky bit there's no labels on
