Steve, it goes like this "if you pay too much and then the market rises, you'll be covered but you still paid the dealer too much".

In a rising market absolutely.

This car is in the records we have at Porsche Club as being the first UK 67S, Light Ivory with the registration and the engine number shown on the Bonhams site.

Should be checked with Porsche GB to make sure and I would want to have a very close look over the car and make sure the car is all pukka and is what it reckons it is before bidding as it may go for quite a bit.

Absolutely they need to make sure it is accurate as it will effect value. I'd also want to make sure everything else about the car was right.

Any potential buyer needs to contact Bonhams and view the car before the auction to check all the details. I plan to be at the auction, but that's not really the time to be doing an inspection, but I can certainly spot any obvious originality problems.

I've got a pre auction pass for Thursday if you fancy a more civilised viewing (not just for this but in general, of course)?
